Hello a.netters,
Just in on my local news. I found out that a plane was Hijacked out of RAP (Rapid City Regional) also followed by a high speed pursuit. This has to be interesting on how the person got on airport grounds. More info to come, i hope.

That is too funny! This town is "intersting" and no it's NOT a real city even though it's called "Rapid City". Have lived here 2 years and this does NOT surpise me! LMAO!!!

It's not even mentioned in the Rapid City news or newspapers yet, the link is from Sioux Falls (other side of the state).

What do you consider a "real" city?

The article the OP posted now says the report of the hijacked plane was false. Thankfully.

I corrected the title so our members don't think there is a hijacked plane flying around.

What a dumb thing on his part to say the least. I'm guessing he could be facing federal charges?

Next flights: WN DSM-LAS-PHX, US PHX-SJD. Return: US SJD-PHX, WN PHX-MDW-DSM

Unlikely. Even if authorities can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he made the call, all he could get charged with is filing a false police report.

As it is, he'll probably get reckless driving, eluding/evading in a vehicle, and resisting without violence.

Hah! Hearing local news on airliners.net is quite surprising.

No actual hijack though, so thankfully not too serious.

No Rapid City bashing, now - after all, we are the second most populous city in the state.

I didn't know there were any cities in that state, LOL. Just kidding!

Obviously this isn't quite as major, but it brings back memories of the false bomb call and arrest on the US airways flight.

HAHA! Your town isn't bad (I visit it several times a year), but... I've lived in Denver, I've lived north of London for two years, lived in Grand Forks for 11 winters, Spokane (regrettably) for 4.5 years (they think they are real city too) etc... so "city" to me, and many others means... tall buildings, large infrastructure, vast amounts and types of people and culture!

I love the "least visited state in the nation" for ND's quotes...prior to the oil boom, and loved Grand Forks (aka Grand Cities) that also had no tall buildings lol...some of the greatest and kindest people I have ever met, and still go back regularly!

Yeah, hearing "local" news on here was funny/entertaining! Oh, AND...what's our airport code? KRAP... haha!

I do admire your dedication to your home town.

It's a great tourist town though... Mt. Rushmore, the best part of the Badlands (yes where Starship Troopers was actually filmed), the Black Hills are nice to see and drive through too!

The one real thing about this town that I like: I can hit Denver, Casper, Bismarck, Grand Forks, Omaha, or Minneapolis in part of a day, and not have to waste too much time!

Grateful no actual hijack happened, as that would just be more problems for this town.
