No More AA 757 At LGA?

Just took a quick peek at the new AA downloadable timetable and it appears that there are no more AA 757s being sent to LGA! Didn't think we'd see the day this soon when LGA would be all 738 / MD80 and RJ.

This indeed happened on December 7th(?) I was flying out of LGA on the night of the 6th and saw one of the last AA 757 departures from LGA.

Was a stunning T/O too, it only used about 5000' of runway. It was up sooner than my 60% full NK a319 was!

If AA is trying to put a "nicer" product in LGA, they are moving in that direction with dropping the 757s and putting in 738s instead. A move back to 757 might not make too much sense given what they are trying to do.

While the 738 may be a nicer product the 757 is a much nicer product than the MD-80 or Super 80 as AA calls them and while AA has a lot less of them than they used to they still have quite a few and I believe LGA is still a MTC base for the S80.

On a separate note UA has more 757's than ever at LGA with some days having as many as 9 (all PMUA), and while there schedules seem to fluctuate a lot equipment wise some days I have seen as many as 3 757's on the popular LGA-IAH route that until the merger had been all 737 for many years.

Back in early 2000-2002 I was an AA ticket agent. From what I can remember we used to fly 757s to MIA, MCO, DFW, TPA, EGE and I believe we saw some to FLL and PBI during the heavy periods. Those were the good old days. I miss the AA F100s that we flew between BNA. We also had the all business class F100 that went LGA-DAL-LAX.

There was also a DAL-ORD F100 flight as well, all done so AA could drive Legend Airlines at DAL out of the market. (DAL-ORD was interesting, as Legend never served Chicago, but was close to entering MDW prior to their demise.)

I agree that the S80 is not as nice as the 757, but that is probably the reason for them still fyling them in there a lot.

Absolutely true. Schedule reverts back to having two 757s between MIA-LGA again in June.

Back in August 2007 I flew an AA 757 on LGA-MCO-LGA round trip. IIRC TPA and FLL also saw the 757 from LGA. And back then S80s were flown on LGA-YYZ/RDU/MSP/MCI

I had a deadhead last spring ORD-LGA on a 757. I want to say it was around an 8am departure. I even got first class so I'm glad I did now that they're becoming more rare.

True. Also back in 2007 I'm fairly certain that LGA-ORD was 1x daily, there might have been a DFW 757 flight as well.

What about winter service to EGE on saturdays that is beyond perimeter flying? I dont think AA operates any other planes that can handle that mission? It has always been a 757-200 as is all of AA EGE flying

I believe this is the first year in a long time that AA hasn't operated the LGA-EGE Saturday nonstop during ski season. This year it's just the daily JFK-EGE (still a 757).
