Do you think that it is a matter of time before CO orders some 767-300's? I personnally believe they should do so in order to fill the gap between the 764/DC-10 and the 762's.


Twinjets...if one fails, work the other one twice as hard!!!

CO will NEVER order 763s. They were about to in 1987 and backed off when Boeing announced the 777. They are just fine with the 752 and upcoming 753 on ETOPS from EWR, 762s and 764s on EWR-Europe and IAH-Some upcoming Pacific destinations. The 764 will do IAH-HNL in the future. And the 777 doing a lot of European work. They are off just fine without the 763.

Probably not, considering the fleet will be joined by the 757-300 soon. This sort of fills the gap between the 762 and 764.

I know of at least five that they ordered but then xncld :

all were produced as B767-324's

1 is currently with DL as N394DL
1 is currently with ANZ as VH-BZF
3 are currently with VIETNAM as VN-A762,764 & 765

I think CO now only has the -224 and -424 on order

Continental did order the B767-300ER. The aircraft were due for delivery around 1993, when the airline was in the depths of financial trouble. They were never delivered, but were taken over by Vietnam Airlines. Which explains why they operate 3 B767-324(ER) aircraft.

VN-765

ANZ and DL now operate the "old CO 767-324's" as does VIETNAM
