INSTRUCTIONS
WHAT IS THIS REPORT?
This compares what is for sale THIS WEEK for the stated period versus what was for sale LAST WEEK...It does NOT compare to last year or now (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED).
HOW DO I READ IT?
XXX-YYY DEC 4>5 JAN 4>5 ; means that the listed airline changed the frequency between the two airports to add from 4 to 5 roundtrips in December and January. No other months were changed. I only list one direction, although it is possible the listed change is only one way. It is too difficult to average the two directions. I assume the change is roundtrip and that is most often the case.
HOW ARE THE DAILY DEPARTURES CALCULATED?
This report uses total operations for the month listed, divided over the days in the month.
WHAT ARE THE FRACTIONAL FLIGHTS?
Non-daily operations create fractional weekly service. In most cases flights are rounded, but in the case of international service or markets with low frequency, fractions are shown. If a flight operated 5 days out of 7, it would show 0.8 flights.
WHY ARE THERE WEIRD FREQUENCIES IN FAR AWAY MONTHS FOR LCCs?
Most airlines publish schedules 11 months in advance. This report covers the next 9 months. That avoids seeing schedules as they are loaded. Several LCCs load their schedules less than 9 months into the future. Their schedules may also end mid-month. If B6 loads their schedule until Jan15, all flights in Janaury will show half frequency because of the way the report is created.
WHY IS A WHOLE AIRLINE'S SCHEDULE SHOWN AS CHANGING FOR A FUTURE MONTH?
Similarly to the previous question, some airlines load their schedule from nothing inside the 9 month window of this report. When their schedule is extended it will show as new service because there was no previous schedule to compare to. In some instances I will show a more valid comparison against another period.
THOSE FLIGHTS AREN'T DELTA, THEY ARE PINNACLE
This report only shows the marketing code. It is too complicated to show all the operators.
THE FREQUENCIES MAY HAVE CHANGED AS YOU SHOW, BUT THE SEATS DIDNT CHANGE BECAUSE OF EQUIPMENT SWAPS
That is a natural weakness of a frequency based report, but it provides something to discuss below.
THE FREQUENCY DOESN'T SHOW A CHANGE, E.G. 4>4
This happens as a result of rounding. There is a change in service that is large enough to be listed, but through rounding it does not appear.
I marked some of the ones I thought were interesting with an "*".

I was wondering when US was finally going to launch this route. They should do well on this route, especially with Northeast and European connections in PHL. Does anyone know if DL flies this route as well?
This may seem trivial in the big scheme of things....but it is a biggie.....US has serves SJO year round for many many years......guess they are now moving it to seasonal service....which is a bad move if you have any hope of retaining your VFR traffic.

Nice. Does this mean that they are happy with the traffic they get on SLC-CLT? It's good to see SLC get more non-DL connections to the east coast. I have friends who would still love to see UA bring back the former CO service to EWR.
Checked the schedule for dates in July:
US 306 08:25 SLC 14:44 PHL A320
US 305 18:10 PHL 21:04 SLC A320
Seems to be timed well for European connections in both directions. US runs SLC-CLT as a red-eye, timed more for domestic connections.
Opposite times compared to DL's schedule on the same days:
DL 988 17:15 SLC 23:34 PHL 738
DL 987 07:25 PHL 10:18 SLC 738

This reduction does seem a little odd, considering it has been flown year round for several years with equipment as large as a 752. Flight doesn't even operate more than weekly in late November, considering they can pull off a daily 319 in the summer.

Gearing up for the AA merger
I would say these are all just capacity reductions in the low season, but at the same time I can't remember when CLT-SJU/NAS/STT/SXM was flown less than daily, considering all are flown daily in the summer, or in the case of NAS and SJU, thrice and twice daily, respectively. STT and SXM are all flown with 757s this summer, as is SJO. Where are all the 757s going to go?
On the other hand, SXM, SJU, and NAS all seem to return to daily service in November, and NAS seems to be daily throughout October.
I wouldn't say these reductions have anything to do with a merger, but it makes me wonder, is US doing that bad in the Caribbean?

Wow, three cuts from NKs ACY summer schedule, pretty big for a station that was seeing only 14-15 or so daily depatures in the summer. I don't see this capacity being added elsewhere in ACY on NK, and all this after ACY just completed a nice 4 or 5 gate expantion to the concourse. I know super storm Sandy really took a toll on Atlantic City and Spirit really felt this toll at ACY. While Spirit was profiting in ACY before Sandy, the numbers weren't as good as they were in the past in ACY and NK is profiting much more in other parts of their system currently, so I think a drawdown of ACY was inevitable.
This capacity does have to go somewhere so with the ACY cuts and the other cuts elsewhere, I'm interested to see what cities or frequencies get added. I'm betting new service announcements are coming shortly as this seems to be the trend when Spirit shows large OAG changes with mostly cuts.

Exactly what I am thinking. Not only these cuts in existing schedules but I believe new a/c arriving in-house as well.
However, we do need to remember that NK has already announced 3 new DFW-routes to start 4/25 and 2 more in June so some of these cuts could simply be funding those new flights...
I've certainly got my wish list and I'd love to see a couple of those items get the nod... We'll see what happens..

September is an awful month for going to those destinations. Between hurricanes, all the students back in school and families just settling in from their summer vacation it isnt worth it. US started those capacity controls about 2-3 years ago with SXM, GCM, SJO. This is nothing new. Passport control is a much more civil place in the month of September and October in CLT.

I stand corrected. I just ran a search on Delta.com and it pulls up a N/S on Saturday. Apologies for my ignorance, it's just a route DL has never been know to have their hands on.

Quoting Cubsrule (Reply 21): No, read it again. It says DL is planning to serve it in March and has adjusted the frequency. These are doubtless flights that just operate a few times (probably weekends) for spring break.
Respectfully, I just read it three times myself. 0.2>0.1 certainly seems to be a reduction in service, unless I've been reading these threads incorrectly for the last few years.
Quoting enilria (Reply 14): It's not a code share. Why would you think it isn't real?
Quoting AUSisAwesome (Reply 20): DL does not serve AUS-MCO and the post says the route is already being served by DL. Just wondering why it says the route is served by DL.
If DL is serving this route, then it doesn't seem to have started yet and will be very short lived. I have never seen one of these flights, nor BHM or MSY for that matter. WN yes, DL no.
I really enjoy these threads enilria, but I share AUSisAwesome's confusion here.

Quoting redzeppelin (Reply 6): I have friends who would still love to see UA bring back the former CO service to EWR.
when was the last time CO flew this route? I would love UA to bring the service back as well!
25 vatveng: It's a reduction in what is for sale this week for travel in March vs. what was for sale last week for travel in March. DL is going to serve it for a

28 jporterfi: DL flies this route once daily with a 738. The flight leaves PHL at 7:10 AM and arrives in SLC at 10:18 AM.
29 m404: I certainly didn't know of DL plans for a non-stop to LAX from BNA. Is their some regional service on DL that can feed it a little or will it all be f
30 redzeppelin: CO dropped SLC-EWR in 2008 as part of a larger cost cutting campaign. I don't know when the route originally started, but I seem to remember friends
31 BoeingGuy: I didn't see it anywhere, but it looks like AA SJC-ORD is going down to 1 daily. Maybe that's just for the Winter season.
32 MasseyBrown: Yes, but except for PWM these are very late add-backs of the post-Christmas schedule reductions. From CLE's point of view, better late than never.[Ed
33 usairways85: FWIW, DL flew SLC-PHL double daily for the longest time. It was after the NW merger and the MSP/DTW hubs that they cut it down to 1x day
34 enilria: It's not over till the fat lady sings. It could still change. Probably not 100% till 30 days prior. It is now scheduled to operate twice in March wit
