Apparently they are looking for 60 narrowbodies - that would be the replacement for the 738s and 752s in my opinion. Hard to see Boeing loose this one.

I assume being TUI Travel its for Thomson Airways with a fleet of:
26x 737-800's and 5 on order
19x 757's (3 to leave by the end of winter this year)
17 of the 737's currently in the fleet were delivered within the past 2 years.
That seems like some serious forward planning considering they are sitll having new aircraft delivered unless they are planning on expanding. Are they just responding whilst delivery slots are still available?
Can the 737's reach all the places TOM send the 757's such as all the Egypt and Cape Verde routes?

This order is Boeing's to lose, although the chance for Airbus to gain an order to replace the best part of 140 aircraft will mean that the're likely to fight this one aggresively. TUI have recently ordered new A330s for Corsair, so it's not as if they are completely averse to Airbus. The decision to remove the ex-First Choice A320/321 fleet seems to have been based on the clash with the much larger number of 737s already operated at the time of the merger.
With the size of the NEO/MAX backlogs, by the time any ordered aircraft are delivered, even aircraft that are new now will be approaching their 10th birthday!

Thomson Airways have pretty much got rid of all their Airbus aircraft (apart from G-OOPE which is still flying around). I imagine that they have probably got rid of their Airbus fleet managers and maintenance programs too.
So why would Thomson Airways want to order Airbus A320's, either Sharklets or NEO? Seems daft to me.
Thomson have another 5 737-800's on order and 8 B787's, with options for another 13 787's. (data taken from Jethros).
I think that this order is for TUIfly (Germany) and not Thomson Airways. Either that, or they are looking to order aircraft in around 10-15 years time, when their first lot of 737's (the ones registered G-FDZ something) are starting to age a bit.
The only other possibility is that they may order a slightly bigger aircraft to replace their 19 757's with, but that still doesn't equate to an order of 60 aircraft as mentioned above.

Don't forgot that there's half-a-dozen airlines under the TUI umbrella, so it's entirely possible they're trying to get a volume discount for the whole group.
Between TUIfly (Germany), TUIfly Nordic (Sweden), ArkeFly (Netherlands), JetAirFly (Belgium), CorsairFly (France) and Thomson (UK), there are a lot of aircraft around that will need replacing someday.
