I think it's to unveil a new livery and branding. Don't think they're ready to announce a merger just yet.

My guess would be the livery. It was rumoured that it would be announced this week.

I'm sure the new livery is a definate.

How many other anticipated "big announcements" are there going to be before there is even one actually announcement?

Frankly, I hope they announce a merger or come out against the merger just to put an end to it all.

It has to be the new livery which will be painted on the first 77W that has been flying around in a dull grey paint base coat for a month.

Here is the latest from the DMN:

We’ve heard that strange happenings are going on this week at American Airlines’ hangar on the east side of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport:

– The facility is pretty locked down, with security keeping out unauthorized employees.

– There are large generators located outside the building, like they need power for some big event.

– They allegedly are building a big stage inside the hangar.

I doubt this. If a merger would go through, I doubt AA would keep any aspect of the US branding, especially with them having just invested much time and money into a new rebranding themselves.

It will be the 77W in the new livery. The plane was parked at the north side of the hanger (old DL hanger) last week, now the area is a ghost town. I fly to ORD tomorrow out of A and back Friday into A. I'm sure to fly out on the east side of DFW and will watch.

If a formal merger announcement comes after the new livery is unveiled, nothing of US will be incorporated in the new livery because AA is not going to unveil a new livery and shortly afterwards repaint all of their airplanes in something different.

I heard something similar, that it would be flown from Renton tomorrow at 0430, in preparation for an official unveiling at DFW either tomorrow or Friday.

Some believe that the new colors will be unveiled on the 773 (which I wanted to believe, but wouldn't mean that the a/c would have to be shuttled back to PDX or BFI for paint? DFW doesn't have any painting facilities, correct?
