JAT's DC-10 does many things. Initially it was supposed to be flying BEG-North America this summer but that went to hell.... In fact JAT re-furbished (interiour/exteriour) the plane and replaced an engine. But, they didn't get the right to fly to North America. So... for a while it worked charters in Nigeria. Also it did a some charter work for a Czech company, I belive. It is currently, as far as I know, being used on European routes. Mainly Zurich, London, Paris etc...... It is compleatly uncertain where it will fly, they just throw it in when they need it. More so because they have a lot of cargo, and not a lot of passengers, this is especially true for the Zurich run. It is clear though, that good old YU-AMB has served JAT very well and needs to be gracefully retired as soon as possible.

That seems to be common... Although they say in their schedule, the flight is opereated by their 737-300's it is more often a 727 (YU-AKI or YU-AKK) on their flights to LHR and also to Zurich. I don't mind, the 727 is my favourite plane. I flew on one of JAT's 727s once, and 3 times on their 737s. The 737 is the most boring plane I have ever flown on, also I love the spacious feeling of the 727 (compared to the 737). The wing of the 727 is just great, I love the spoiler action, best in-flight entertainment ever. It will be sad to see these old birds go and be replaced by something like an A320....

Zdravo,

the country is still so reeling economically, it's pretty amazing that JAT's still pulling through at all, no matter what they`re flying with. (I like their recently-redone website though, nicely done)

I imagine it'll yet be at least a couple more years of lots of uncertainty and changes for both their fleet deployment as well as route network. Followed hopefully by some financing arrangements to get a small fleet of new craft, maybe 320s and 319s like Croatia airlines has, complemented by a few 330s for medium or long haul routes. Maybe even some regional jets introduced as well.

Zdravo,

I know, I will miss the 727s. I guess they will be soldiering on for a few more years. As for the web site, well it's all right. I hate the stupid way the pages load. Also there is no new info, in fact they took some info they had before. Another thing that is stupid is that the fleet section is not in the About JAT section but in the Services -> Maintinace section. There is still a lot o work to be done by JAT. If they made it this far I think they will be all right.

JAT,

I meni izgleda da prezivece. Yes they go to town a bit with the funky circular IE page dissolves, but I can live with it. Much better than the sort of stolid way it used to be, before then. Every little bit helps! (just wish the EU would get its butt in gear to help out more with financing projects for the country. But that`s another story, alas)

Hopefully there`ll be some greater cooperation as well, among some countries in the Balkans. Like it still seems a bit crazy to me that no direct flight, from either JAT or TAROM, between BEG-OTP. So still lots of business initiatives yet to be developed even within the region, it seems.

I've seen the DC-10 at LHR last Monday. It took off like a rocket, so I'm sure there were really not many passengers on board!

Zdravo svima,

on my recent holiday at home (Tivat - Montenegro) I have pictured and noticed that JAT operated the YU-AMB very often (some times even 3 times for a day) on a Tiv-Beg route and this DC10 was always full. It was nice to see it ther, it is a lovely bird.
