Tortug'Air (Haiti) Applies For FLL-CAP

Tortug' Air, Haiti's flag carrier, has applied with the DOT to launch daily service between FLL and Cap Haitien (CAP).

They intend to use a CRJ-100 wet leased from South African carrier CemAir.

IBC Airways currently flies this route.

Cap Haitien sounds like a relatively nice place, at least when compared to the notoriously dangerous Port-au-Prince. If I ever had any desire to go to Haiti, I'd probably choose this destination over the troubled capital...


Flying in the middle seat of coach is much better than not flying at all!

I've never been, but I've heard Labadee is a nice spot near Cap Haitien. Pretty much Labadee is a spot that has been "separated" from the rest of Haiti for cruise ships and their passengers. Certainly not the "real Haiti"

the airport is a nightmare... people and animals can walk across the runway; when your plane pulls up you'll have 5-10 people all trying to help you (only because they want $$). So I doubt you'll see any "real" commercial flights here soon...
