AA revealed yesterday its new and highly controversial branding. Today they released their new webpage. It looks pretty good, definitely better than United.com and Delta.com. The new livery and branding are definitely growing on me. Take a look. What do you think?

I like it. Fresh and unique. Love the branding, still waiting for the livery to grow on me.

Still can't believe how much they are misrepresenting that livery in their press/marketing materials though. It does not look that bright and shiny in any of the actual photos I've seen.

I agree - new website design looks good. Not all of the pages have been redone yet, so a lot of the site content is still just the old pages with the new design overlay, but you can definitely see where the overall look and feel is heading, and I like it.

Personally I think that by doing something unexpected (most people expected the logo and/or eagle in the tail) they have accomplished something. People are talking about it more. As I mentioned in the livery thread I suspect that was part of the objective all along. That and the great job they did keeping everything under wraps created a great marketing effect IMHO.

I agree with most people so far. I like the way the website looks and feels.

No, the travel deals are for whatever you set your home airport to on previous visits or what airport you used on previous searches. My travel deals don't say ATL at all

I'm impressed with the steps AA is taking to remake itself.

Livery: Yea I actually preferred one of the suggestions which was posted a few weeks ago (bold blue and red tail with a new style eagle) but the rest of the livery is good.

Website: Night and day difference from the old - fantastic.

Updating technology/interior - AA will vault to the forefront of U.S. based carriers with their new a/c and updated existing a/c. Having 110v plugs and USB jacks is huge given the fact so many folks travel with their own smart phones and tablets.

Service: I hope to see their soft product match the new hard product.

I've avoided AA for years given the problems I've seen with everything from the site to the antiquated interiors of their old and inefficient a/c and spotty service. I'm looking forward to giving them a try once again once the new a/c/interiors arrive.

YES - the UA site was bad before and looks even worse now that the new AA.com is live.

Perhaps the images are scaled for iDevices or something, but the front page graphics and text on my laptop are HUGE in relation the rest of the site, and much larger than they need to be. And we still can't sort fares, so much of its functionality as a logical resource to go to to buy travel still isn't there. I rate it a work in progress, nothing to gush over yet.

Booking a flight this morning on AA was a breeze - just a freshening of the skins. Hate the frustration that comes from a new website that's just not user friendly, such as at UA. I'll say this, I'm looking forward to the new narrow-bodies (given I am at FAT) and the resulting improved performance and hopefully inflight service. Maybe it's just a string of bad luck, but four of my last five flights have been cancelled because of mechanicals and it's getting very old, quick (as are the mad dogs).

They couldn't have created renderings of every aircraft type in the new livery?

I am curious as to how soon Citibank will start offering cards with the new livery. Also, how soom will AA start replacing AAdvantage elite cards with the new logo? I'm due for a new card next month.

I could not disagree more........but these are our opinions.....

I will say this; how as AA been able to handle bankruptcy, hard, soft, media, merger, marketing issues and changes all at once.....while UA is just barely able to get their operations in order?

Such a nice change, overall. I love AA's new logo, and the site is nice and fresh and easy to use, much nicer than really any of the other majors. UA's site is a complete technological ghetto when compared to AA's, and Delta's just doesn't seem as polished and well-thought.

My biggest gripe with the AA booking flow is that I wasn't able to see the aircraft type as I was presented different itinerary options. I had to select flights and proceed to the next screen to see what equipment would operate the flights.

That's a small gripe, though... if that's the smallest complaint, I think that it shows how well AA's team approached designing the new site. If that team had designed the new livery, perhaps it wouldn't have been such a total calamity.

AA's new site looks great.
The new logo still reminds me of Carnival every time I see it. Plane looks better in the mockup than in photos.

I agree United's website really looks outdated and deficient in some areas. However, when it comes to flight bookings (including mileage plus awards) I find it works great. Display of flight options and fares are clear, ability to search for a specific fare types using codes, preview of the actual seat occupancy etc. are great features.

I have to say I think when it comes to functionality UA's site is better than the Asian airlines even like CX's or SQ's. CX's website IMO looks even worse than UA's.

If you do the 'price and schedule" option, you can click the little "+" button and it will show you the equipment before you select the flight.

That's really the bottom line, isn't it. I'm all for fresh and clean looking, but only if doesn't come before the underpinnings working efficiently. That was a defect with DL's new website that AA didn't learn from. UA's site may look prehistoric to some, but at least it works as intended.

To be fair, when pmUA exited bankruptcy, their updated branding was arguably the best of any airline at the time (minus the snails pace to repaint the fleet).

I'm really impressed with what AA has managed to do, and it shows how much time was invested to do it right. As I said in another thread, the "new" UA should be taking a lot of notes.

I thinks Americans new look is great. I'm not sure I like tail of the aircraft but I'm sure it will grow on me in time. It just going be a little strange not seeing AA on the tail of their aircraft in the coming years.

I also agree that AA.com does look better that United.com but most passengers don't care how a website looks as long as it is functional, easy to navigate/understand and puts all the information that they need on their screen as quickly as their internet connection will allow them. But remember United.com isn't a new a website it is a carryover from Continental.com and while it is not as clean and crisp as AA.com it still gets the job done.

The new AA.com is better than the old one, but it has nothing on Delta.

The new livery is ugly and the market reactions are lukewarm, at best. That is never a good sign.

Worst of all, the new livery goes against everything that American is trying to be: refreshed and unique. For a company that has fallen off the bandwagon (in spite of its rich heritage of pioneering innovation and loyalty) the new logo does indeed incur images of Greyhound, Cubana and Carnival cruiselines.

That is NOT what re-branding is supposed to entail. A revised corporate identity cannot, and should not, look like cheap knock-offs of other brands.

I am hugely disappointed by this as are many others and I am unfortunately not impressed with Horton and his team.

Yesterday when I saw the livery revealed, it made me borderline angry. There's a lot of emotional attachment to the now old AA brand (good and bad), but the more I look at it, the only thing I'm still truly against is the tail on the livery. The rest of the branding is fairly well presented, though I will miss the 1968 brand forever.

I like it! Clean and simple. Also, the updated America Airlines iOS app has a new function that will save a virtual AAdvantage card in your Passbook. It's actually pretty cool.

the setup reminds me of the old DL webpage. hm, i think it's kind of boring, everything looks good in white or black, but try and bring in some more color and then get a good feedback is worth more IMO. but i have to admit it's simple and you can't do anything wrong. it's easier to navigate through it than most other webpages. But it does look like it's not quite done yet. to me it looks unfinished and kind of empty.

Yes, the pages are huge for me too. Overscaled. I was thinking they were blowing it up for the first day or two to show off the new brand, but now I assume it's something in my computer making it too big.

They did well to pull off painting the 737 under wraps ... it would have been harder to sneak around with the 773.

There is a lot to update in so many areas....having it all done and ready for the announcement yesterday would have involved too many people and companies to keep it secret. I'm sure it's going to take a while to get caught up.

If you go to the Greyhound website, the buses are now silver and something between slate blue and teal. They aren't red, white, and blue anymore. Also, the font used for Greyhound branding is very art deco. AA is using something that is updated, but still resembles Helvetica.

If anything, the AA tail looks like the jerseys for the U.S. national soccer team, red and white horizontal stripes with blue on the collar and sleeve hems.

It's amazing what you can now spend your money on now that all debt has been wiped out through bankruptcy. Those pesky bills and loans just vanish! POOF! Now we can try to make ourselves look like an attractive investment for a buyer or merger!

Agree 100%. Personally I think the shade of blue/red on the current fleet of planes suit it better than the shades on the new livery. But the main issue I have is with the tail " design ". As for the new website, it is OK I guess. Simple and fresh looking.

I just checked in using the new iPhone app, and I noticed my Passbook boarding pass is now black (for exec plat) instead of the light blue as it was previously. So, it looks like the mobile bp will be color coded to status.

The content and layout are excellent, I think. The most common functions a user would need are all simply laid out as soon as you are there. "Who are you and what do you want to do?" All nice and bright and bold.

If you want something unusual (information about the corporation or looking up a policy or something), you just scroll down and it's all laid out neatly.

As for the visual appeal, I think the new branding looks GREAT! It's amazing how much better it all gets when you just ignore that stupid tail livery.

I think it's very well-done.

The new design looks very nice, but the old site still shows through as soon as you leave the home page. For the most part, the header/footer/navigation elements are new, but the primary content hasn't been changed (including old fonts, logos, colors...). Still, the overall effect isn't bad. It's certainly way better than the hideous UA web site, though it's not as cohesive as DL's yet (which is understandable given how long ago the DL rebranding was now).

I like it, the way it gives you the total cost of the trip all the way through the booking process. Everything else that they kept from the old site, which is good. I have always found it easy to use and there was never a question as to what was the options.

IMO, that's the worst livery for a US major I've ever seen. It looks like someone on that modified airline photos site won a contest or something.

The website isn't anything new and fresh either.

The bare metal worked...the interiors, not so much. So why couldn't they just re-furb the interiors and promote that?
