Air India invites scaled offers from prospective Lessors for Sale and Lease Back(SLB) of seven 787-8 aircraft.

- Air India has already taken delivery of 6 787 aircraft and is expected to take delivery of the 7th aircraft shortly.
- AI would sell the aircraft to the Lessor and immediately lease it back under an operating lease for a period of 12 years with an option to extend.

The whole document (pdf) can be found here: http://mmd.airindia.co.in/aimmd/tender/RFP%202013%20787.pdf

Smart move -
Besides AI needing the money, they certainly got them at significant discounts being early customer and the market pricing being much higher they can earn a nice net profit.

I haven't been following the Indian Aviation threads, but did AI ever find bridge financing for frames 3-8? I know the first two secured such financing, but AI tendered at least two separate offers for bridge funding for the rest.

This is the 5th revision of the tender, and it is expected to get revised once again next week.

In addition, this transaction won't happen until Boeing figures out the electrical issues.

Yeah, all the financing stuff got sorted out with the Ministry of Finance.

Excuse my ignorance, but are the changes to the tender on the margins usually or have they been substantial?
