Afaik, LHR is the only destination for Air Jamaica's A340. A little bit too far for the A333. I remember LTU used to fly their 333s from Germany to Cuba, Dominican Republic etc, they had to leave every third seat empty, due to range problems. So the use of an A340 makes sense.

As Boeing 747-700 said, AJ is getting 2 A340's that AC is returning to lessors. These are relatively early-model A340's that have less range/payload than AC's other A340's. If memory serves, AC picked them up on short-term lease from a cancelled/deferred IB order in 94/95. From the AJ perspective, the lease payments are probably less than newer A340's and they can return their newer A340. Although with all the violence in Jamaica in July, I would imagine tourism is down.
