Sorry, couldnt resist. Makes sense that rebranding includes uniforms too. Best to the AA folks...hopefully your consultants will have more sense than ours and no go with the black and charcoal."Inflight Funeral Director" look.

I know I'm impatient, but two years...really? The roll out of the brand, from airplanes to uniforms, as scheduled will take years to complete. By the time everything is re-branded it will be very old news and probably out of style.

My opinion is that things should be happening more quickly than they are and should be capitalizing on the "new American" concept that "won't be so new American" once everything is complete.

AA has got to stop being behind in everything and re-gain it's leadership position at a fast pace.

We are hopeful that once DP takes over, he will dispense with the new livery so we won't be stuck wearing ties and scarves emblazoned with the "new" American Flag, which Horton had apparently been waiting his whole life to redesign.

I'd be willing to bet that the new branding will be part of any merger agreement. I wouldn't expect DP to touch.

What do you want to say now? The creater of the thread was simply asking if what he/she heard was true or not. No harm in that is there?

Looking forward to the new uniforms AA

It will be interesting as to what the pilot uniforms will turn out. While most people inside and outside of AA agree that the F/A and CSA uniforms need some refreshing, most pilots I know are pretty happy with with they have. I seem to remember in the 90s, when the F/As uniforms were last refreshed, the pilot uniforms went to a slightly darker shade of blue. But, that was it.

A while back, I was showing a friend (an AA capain) pictures of my first flight on AA back in 1963 on a Convair 240. The F/A uniforms have changed a lot, but there was very little change to the pilot uniform.

His comment was that they go the uniform right way back when, so why change it.

Tugs will be equipped with leather wrapped steering wheels covers to enhance the push back experience.

I was thinking the same thing. Colored chocks would be easier to see and steering wheel covers would give more gripping power.

This is boring .. A.netters are only interested in the bad/unfortunante/demise of airlines.. Anything positive receives little attention. example: take a look at the thread AA POSTS Q4 profit.. barely touched, yet anything bad/sad/negative this place lights up like july 4th. Post about the 1billion in employee concession if you want some attention. People LOVE that stuff and will come out in droves to justify negative.

It could be worse. If AA were run by Steve Wolf, he would have repainted the planes in dark blue. Every airline he's run has gone to a paint scheme that was either gray are dark blue, including Flying Tigers, the original Republic, United, and US Air.

Pretty big assumption that DP will take over, don't you think?

From what I can see in recent news, were there to be a merger, the question of management is far from settled.

General consensus in these raucous US/HP threads is if LCC takes over AMR, that DP is in charge.

This thread is a perfect example of how weird this merger speculation has become

As was finally said later in this conversation, speculation is often at the core of many discussions and threads here on A.net, it seems to be the spice that keeps everything at a slow boil, without it, the A.net we know would be very different.

Just like an aircraft purchase, the mountains of parts need to be assembled before they can be delivered. I do hope a company named "American" is smart enough to ensure that these new uniforms have the made in the USA label, or they can suffer the unflattering publicity that will accompany AA's attempt to become a well thought of carrier again.

Many airlines are now using "real" designers. The manufacturing of the uniforms is another story. I loved the new Richard Tyler uniform at DL, but when we finally received them, the quality wasn't the greatest. Unfortunately, it's difficult to design a nice-looking, yet functional uniform. It seems from the design stage to the delivery stage, it's not quite what anyone expected.
