Do you think that will ever happen? There are no nonstop flights from Mexico to Asia. In fact there's only JAL's MEX-YVR-NRT since Malaysian pulled out. Maybe a 747 Combi would work to Japan or Korea?

Has Aeromexico done anything with Korean Air so that they can send passengers Mexico-Korea/Japan via the USA (LAX,SFO,DFW). Have they applied to code-share the route?

I don't know, but maybe they haven't. You can't reserve a place to anywhere in Asia in Aeromexico's website.

To everybody:
Is there enough market to launch a direct flight to Asia? Maybe 3x weekly. How many people travel between Mexico and Asia? Maybe there are quite a lot but that's overlooked because there are tons of MEX-LAX MEX-SFO and U.S.East Coast-Asia flights and everybody is connecting there and a direct flight might be useful.

Continental is the beneficiary of many Japanese travelers going NRT-IAH, then transfering to IAH-MEX, IAH-MTY, IAH-GDL, IAH-CUN, etc.

I think it would be a good Idea to Introduce a flight to Japan and make competition with JAL, also I would have a beneffit.. cause if you´re travelling to some where else in Asia you can make a connect flight with Korean Air.

But let´s see what goes over in the future for Aeromexico.

What in Aeromexico's fleet could make it from LAX/SFO-Japan. Does the 767-300 have the range? Do they have an ER version in their fleet?

AeroMexico has the B767-300ER. I don´t know if that bird will make it non-stop to Asia, but AeroMexico won´t start a MEX to Asia flight soon. They want to increase flights and destinations to Europe and South America. They have done it with Madrid 1 extra flight, Santiago 1 extra flight and Sao Paulo 1 extra flight (per week). So their B767 fleet is quite bussy. Remember that they will start MEX-Italy flights next year, so lets hope they do continue to be succesfull in Europe and then they can start thinknig in Asia.
By the way, AM codeshares on Delta's LAX-NRT flight.

Yes, you are right, because exist a potencial market to Asia. Possibly aircraft for AeroMexico to start the Asian routes is the 777-200 Longer Range. Possibly destination: Tokyo, Seoul and Hong Kong.

Hi there,
Well as of this month, Aeromexico and Delta have put code on LAX-Seoul flights.
I just saw them at LAX, it was a Korean flight to Seoul and both Aeromexico and Delta were posted at the gate. So now Aeromexico has both Delta and Korean to Asian markets.

So long and GO ITALY!!!!!!!!!!!HOPEFULLY Flights start March 2002.

Incorrect.... Delta has not put code on Korean-operated flights and has postponed doing this indefinitely, as a result of the FAA downgrading South Korea to Compliance Oversight Category 2.

You saw Delta and Aeromexico posted at the gate? Are you sure this was a Korean gate at Bradley International Terminal? It may have been a gate in use by Air France.

It's a new day. Every moment matters. Now, more than ever.

If I remember right, Japan Airlines operated or talked about operating a B747 flight from Tiajuana to NRT many years ago.
