Hi - Today at LHR I noticed the latest MH A380 MND in an unfinished colour scheme, basically it had the titles and tail logo but no blue wrap-around fuselage bands.
I'm wondering if they are prepping it for a livery similar to their A330's.
Thanks.

Quoting nazgul (Reply 2): I think their new colour scheme/livery is horrible - the one on the A330 and the A380! I much prefer the old one but that's just my opinion.

Agreed too! I think the new livery looks horrible and unfinished... The "old" one looked much better.
If you can meet with triumph and disaster, and treat those two impostors just the same

You guys just don't like change. IMO, any new livery seems to get alot of negative comments and really eventually you just get use to it. Then when they change again, you will complain about the new livery again. I remember when DL changed from the widget to the Ron Allen livery, and then again to the "Deltaflot" and then changed again to the present livery there was alot of belly aching but people will just get use to it. AA is going thought the same thing, but we will get use to it.

I'm wrongly qouted here.
As for the livery, i doubt the A380 would have been able to pull off the oldest current (B734/B777/B747) scheme. All things considering it doens't look that bad except for the position of the tail logo.

Maybe if they could have the red and blue lines go through the main body instead of being clumped together at the bottom and leaving a lot of white, open space on the top.....

The A380 does need something bolder due to its size so just make the red and blue stripes thicker with larger airline titles.

But everything in that model is designed to scale. Does everything have to be billboard and in-your-face these days?
My only suggestion would have been a more traditional shade of grey over the sort of muddied look they have in the model. But otherwise, I don't need floor to ceiling titles screaming in my face, or meaningless and inexplicable swooshy things to catch my attention.

3 aircraft are rumoured to be painted to a special oneworld livery, one from each current type that MH has on the fleet - a B738 (9M-MXB), an A333 (9M-MTE) and an A380 (9M-MND) in relation to MH's official appointment into the alliance on 1 February 2013.
However, there is no image yet surfaced for the A380, which at present still stand as a rumour.
MH's oneworld inclusion ceremony will be streamed live at the airline's youtube page at http://www.youtube.com/user/MAStravel on Thursday 31 January 2013 at 1730 Malaysian time (GMT+8) or 0930 on 31 January 2013 London time.
A new rumour has surfaced that the special livery for the white A380 9M-MND will be unveiled in time for the inaugural daily KUL-CDG vv service commencing on 1 March 2013.

compartively 380 livery looks better, whish it was incorporated fleetwide as is but with highlighted tail logo as was originally planned, moving logo foraward for the tip to touch the leading edge would hve allowed the logo stripes at the end to be longer instead of being shortened, stripes continuing to wing box would have also been better.
Too bad this classier look wont be staying and the LCC style will represent the airline.

All the latest liveries look crap, Actually JAL looks good now, comparing it to that rubbish...MAS last scheme looks more modern than this pathetic excuse for an airline logo...Really I am surprised these "airline people" don't just go on modified airliner photos and borrow some designs from there? Some are brilliant and these people design them at home on their bloody laptop, not spend millions on a design bereau..

Quoting 9MMAR (Reply 29): But none of the other A333 spends 2 weeks on the ground like MTE.
Which is why i went
But i do wonder if these two aircraft weren't on the ground for maintenance. A post elsewhere claimed the retro livery on the B738 took 8 days. Surely applying the Oneworld logo & title then doesn't require 2 whole weeks ?
Anyway, 2 A330s with the One World scheme already didn't make a lot of sense to me. Was this a typo ? You'd think someone would notice the fact they haven't mentioned the flagship A380 in that release
All of this then leaves us wondering if 9M-MND is going to sport more then just the Oneworld logo & titles ? Why else would she not have been completed like the other A380s ? Questions, questions

Personally, I could not care less. It is the inside that I concern myself with, and I am pleased to report that I found it very comfortable, and that was traveling in Economy as well

There's a story behind why 9M-MND was left in white and it's not because of the planned oneworld livery.
btw the striped livery on MNA/MNB/MNC are decals, not painted. MNE/MNF livery are painted. MND was the one lost in between. Only much later after delivery it was then planned to be painted in oneworld livery but this plan has since been dropped and MND will be painted in the normal A380 livery.

Quoting A388 (Reply 35): Indeed, it doesn't make sense. The reason for 9M-MND to be white is that something other than the standard livery is planned for this aircraft.
Or something other than the standard livery was planned but they changed their mind.
