DL744 In SJC Right Now, Why?

Parked down by UPS cargo area, stairs going to 2nd deck and tail doors. Is this an emergency or 49er's ride to the Superbowl?

Anybody knows when it returns so I can have my camera?

We don't get many 747s at KSJC. Never any scheduled at least. The occasional Fry's 747SP or SFO diversion but that's about it. Did recall when I was a kid seeing a United 747-100 landing at SJC but I think this was a promotional tour when the type was big news...1970?

Seem to remember something about the 747 not allowed to operate scheduled trips at SJC but not sure why. Anyone?

Actually the airport facilities just can't handle the 747 at a gate. To do so, would require taking at least two other prime gates out of service to park it. Not to mention that the aircraft can't even taxi down a SJC taxiway because of the wingspan it must taxi down a runway while moving around the airport.

Seriously? Stairs going to the 2nd deck? When have you ever seen that? Delta is the only handler with the equipment big enough to handle an aircraft this size in SJC, and even they don't have that capability - besides the 2nd deck door is emergency only.

Regardless of if they win or not, the aircraft is coming back on 2/4/2013.

No, the niners were lucky the Seahawks didn't beat Atlanta. Otherwise, I would be a happy man as the "Legion of BOOM!" would have been landing in MSY today.

I think they're allowed to use taxiway Z or Y (whichever one is further out), you're just not allowed to have anybody on the next taxiway over because of wing clearance issues, so it's a nuisance. American had this problem back in 2000 when they flew 777s into SJC.

As a big pats fan, that's what I said.. but still not over the AFC Championship game to root for the Ravens so go Niners. I am from NorCal as my username suggest so I am just tired of all the Niners talk this past week and I just wan this game to be over with!

At one time I recall seeing a restricting that aircraft A330 and larger were not allowed into SJC without special approval. Presumably AA had a blanket approval. I'm not seeing that restriction now. Doesn't look like NH needs any special approval or restrictions.

Actually they didn't, the Patriots cleaned their own clocks in that game, had nothing to do with what the Niners did.. reason why they stormed back from 3-31

What is the reason why the departed on 30L? Usually 30L is used for arrivals; and 30R for departures.

Did they do the full loop departure, or just head east right after takeoff?
