An A380 in Airbus colours has been on the tarmac at YFB for a couple days. Why is it here? More cold weather testing?

Well, it has three engines covered and one uncovered, so maybe.

This item from 2 months ago (when the A380 Trent XWB testbed visited East Midlands/EMA) quotes someone saying that it will "soon be going to Siberia for cold weather testing".

Maybe it wasn't cold enough in Siberia so they picked YFB instead, where the A380 itself did cold weather testing before it was certified. I recall at that time they said it wasn't quite as cold as they were hoping for.

It's currently -24C in YFB with a windchill around -40C. Average temperatures for today: low -32C, high -24C.

Well that answers it   Cold weather testing for the TrentXWB.
Airbus has been to YFB for cold weather campaigns before. The A330F has been there as well as the A380, not sure about the A400M. Seems like a popular place for cold weather testing at Airbus.

They really should have brought it into YZF. We have had consistently cold days here for two months. The average has been -35°C.

Boeing was slated to bring the 787 here for a cold soak two weeks ago, but has obviously postponed with the grounding.

Promise me you'll always leave the ground
