My question is why? What is the more popular rumor HA being bought by (insert airline name here) or AS being bought by (insert airline name here)

Because United people would totally know what Delta and Hawaiian are about to do.

Maybe the combined carrier will finally convince Boeing to restart the 757 production line so they can buy ten more planes.

Why would you post a rumor about Delta when the information came from a person at United who probably was a flight attendant. One thing I know for sure is most United employees are not concerned with whats going on at Delta because there is still a lot of work to be done here at United.

After reading stuff like this I wonder how monotonous a job being a FA can be if this is the type of thing they resort to talking about. They must do it simply for their own amusement, and not to be serious.

This has been a rumor for a looooong time. While DL and HA have fleet commonality (soon to be 100% with the arrival of the 717s for DL) there is no way I see this happening.

However it is a good concept- have a mainliner with a hub at HNL to serve the farthest reaches of the Pacific. But alas HA is doing one stand-up job

They could be the launch customer for the 727-9MAX. Perfect aircraft for long, thin routes to the mainland or South Pacific islands, avoiding those pesky ETOPS restrictions.

Seriously, the IL-62 needs some competition in the 180 passenger, long-range, narrow body, 3-or-4-engine, T-tail category. It's an underserved market. And how cool would a stretched 727 look with scimitar winglets, MAX-sized engines and the HA livery? I need to see a mock-up of this.

Well, I just got off the phone with Richard Anderson. He personally told me that these rumors are true, he said he wants to turn HNL into the "ATL" of the PAO (Pacific Ocean, he said it not me) He also sent me the new company logo, he really wants this merger to be equal and fair.

He said he will get around to sending me the new livery later.

Unlike AS, there is really no conceivable reason why DL would want to buy HA. They already fly the prime HNL-Japan and HNL-West Coast routes themselves, and I doubt they really want to regain stuff they recently cut like HNL-SAN/PDX, let alone the likes of HNL-SMF/PPG/MNL, lol. About the only thing they'd probably want would be HNL-HND and maybe HNL-JFK...

I would be saddened to see HA go out in a merger. It is and has been hard to still accept Aloha being gone. HA has done everything right, and continues to be an excellent carrier. My plans to visit Hawaii next year will be booked exclusively on HA.
