I was reading the following website http://www.theezysource.com/ and this caught my eyes...

easyJet A320 G-EZTE Malaga Positioning Rotation.

February 5, 2013

easyJet A320 G-EZTE positioned London Gatwick – Malaga this afternoon as EZY9006, immediately positioning back to London Gatwick as EZY9008.

This is strange, also, they seem to have more positioning flights compared to other airlines this series of websites quote, assuming they cover all these abnormal operations. I am not having a bash on anything but just would like knowledgable members of the forum to advice on what you think may have been going on...

Most aircraft are rotated through the network by making 'aircraft swaps' down route whilst operating the normal schedules. Positioning is still required I dare say though. Not really looked at the quoted website but reasons for this could be the way disruption is handled but also the nature of the airline. It has bases spread right across Europe and positioning of aircraft and crew will likely take place.

Proud to fly from Manchester!
