This was a 777-200 that flew King Khalid Int'l to Boston last night...then after three+ hours on the ground, flew right back the other way.

What was this all about? Was it some 'proving run' for Saudi? To collect data on performance on the run?

Or was it to drop off/pick up some high-minded Sheik going to Harvard or MIT?

That's my guess. Or Boston University.

They most certainly had two crews, one to bring it west and another to send it back east.

Probably indeed.

In fact, it flew JED-BOS-RUH, not RUH-BOS-RUH.

What registration is this bird?

Almost certainly the Charter frame HZ-AKF.
This is in airline fit but used extensively for charters.

Picking up some Prince. Left after a few hours ground time awaiting the passengers' arrival, and then departed after de-icing. Same aircraft and operation was done a few months back.
