2 of them will be "new" aircraft to the EI fleet - I believe they will be ex Meridiana aircraft?

The other two will come from the existing EI fleet, I think they are from the EI-DE_ series, but not entirely sure.

Correct, I-EEZF & I-EEZG, to be re-registered as EI-EZV & EI-EZW.

Dublin, where Sam Maguire will be coming home to in mid September

I believe the other two are EI-DEI and EI-DEO. There are two more A319s to join the fleet, possibly to replace these two. I believe also that the VS aircraft will keep the 174 capacity

Possibly one of these will be Air Malta's 9H-AEJ.

Yes, the two A319s are replacing these two A320s.

The four A320s operated for Virgin will be in Virgin Atlantic livery as well, according to the annual results update released on Wednesday.

I do quite enjoy a spot of flying - more so when it's not in Economy!

I am surprised that Virgin Atlantic has not been more aggressive to establish the routes through sales campaigns. They are selling the tickets for a quid or so below BA's typical fare, so nothing to get people excited or at least make them aware of the new kid in town.

Yep. EI shorthaul fleet numbers will remain the same. 2 A319 to replace the 2 A320 going to the VS operation. 2012 prelim results Q&A element predicted shorthaul fleet growth of 1-2 units per year for the foreseeable future.

174 seats? That's got be tight! I think BA's are snug at 162 seats.

To be fair, I'm 6ft2 and I've never had an issue on U2 who pack 180 into their 320s.

To be honest I travel on both EI and BA aircraft all the time, they have the exact same seats and you would never notice the difference only the EI ones don't change for Club!

I haven't seen any advertising in the London area for the routes, usually the local free newspapers which circulate around the transport network are full of airline adverts as are the walls of tube stations and while VS is certainly filling pages with images of glamours cabin crew and claims of being no ordinary airline, there's been nothing for the domestic operations yet.

That's funny, I was only looking at a VS ad this morning for "no ordinary premium economy" which went on to describe every premium economy I've ever tried.

When is the first EI A320 due to be painted in VS livery?

Nice to see them following VS' tried and tested business plan. Underdog? Sticking up for the consumer? More competition? All BS.

Well, they must get bums on the seats to make it work. The only explanation for keeping the whole operation that low key would be that most of the pax on the domestic flights will be connecting long-haul pax they have bagged anyway and the local traffic is just an added bonus which is not worth dedicated marekting. Has there been any information on the expected ratio of connecting / local passengers for the new services?
