Where's the logic man?!? "United has no larger aircraft flying around at dulles to protect it." Well let's see, a ton of 767s, 777s, 757s, and throw in a few 747s... UA has their European gateway there, as well as a *loyal* consumer base for all their longhauls and hub flights. United may only have 75 mainline jet flights right now, but you have to remember that US Airways only has about 35 right now and that United has almost all the gates on councourses C and D. Well anyway *if* US tries to takeover dulles I hope United buys it like they were planning to do a couple of years back.

MetroJet at Dulles is not really up against United mainline they are up against Atlantic Coast Airlines which serves as United Express.
When I said United does not have larger jets to compete in the low fare market I ment that United doesnt have any large jets they can pull and put on those routes that currently the RJs are flying which being smaller cannot compete with metrojets 737s.
I know United is big a Dulles, but for the most part they really only have a International gateway there and the majority of the domestic flights are served by Atlantic Coast Airlines.
MetroJet is a low fare airline! RJs do not have the economics for low fare flying! If United wants to compete by launching a Shuttle by United on the East coast they dont have any free jets, that are not serving in the mailine, available to do it with.
The only reason I started this post is that US Airways has a hub in Baltimore, well Southwest is taking it over so US Airways launched MetroJet, but now MetroJet is expanding more at Dulles than Baltimore. This doesnt make sense but when you think about it the only logical explanation you can think of is that US Airways is realizing they better get out of Baltimore before they loose a lot of money there, Dulles is the logical choice to move all the US Express Ops and to move MetroJet to take a piece of Uniteds loyal customers with lower fares, since it will be an awful while before the almighty United can counter act with a low fare airline on the East coast.
I am so sick of arguing over this, please tell me you understand where I am coming from and lets end it!!!
