A sort of reconstruction of the Red Wings accident was performed using a prototype Tu 204 ( 64150 ), and the pilots were able to stop the aircraft, even when they did the same high approach and late touchdown, and reproduced other aspects of the landing ( no auto deployment of spoilers and reverser malfunction ).

Sadly, this only demonstrates that the behavior of the plane caught by surprise the poor crew of the ill fated aircraft.

One of the conclusions states the following :

" The landing distance achieved confirmed it was possible to complete the landing on the runway even after the emergency situation and improper actions of the crew during the initial touchdown phase".

Gear Up!!: DC-3 / EMB-110 / Fairchild-227 / Ab318-19-20-21 / B732 / B763 / B789

I guess they don't have a simulator? I'd try to re-create the situation without the crew knowing what is going to happen. When the crew knows in advance, you don't learn a lot, especially given the constraints (e.g., not killing the test subjects) of using a real aircraft.
