Looks like Storm Q has closed the airports in Kansas City. Thunder snow with snow rates of around 2-3 inches/hour has produced large accumulations and visibility of less than 1/4 mile. Be careful out there!

Just when it starting be fun.

Is just me, or is flying not as much fun anymore?

As of this posting, shows it will be closed until 11pm Central 21Feb. MKC downtown was showing only 15 mins ATTM.

This was MCI wx at1440zulu 21Feb. KMCI 211440Z 08014KT 1/8SM R19R/1000V1400FT +SN FZFG VV003 M07/M08 A3003 RMK AO2 TWR VIS 1/4 P0014

While on Skyvector.com early this morning, I saw the storm over mid Kansas. First the news was saying they were in a hurry to finish recovery work at that explosion downtown. Then I saw that they thought it would only be a dusting. Now it looks like a full blown storm for them after all.

My MHK overnight got canceled for tonight and I'm supposed to go to DSM tomorrow so it's shaping up to be an interesting trip so far.

Weather Channel name for this storm I guess, can't have a storm anymore without a name.

I for one am glad to see the officials closing airports rather than try to run themselves into the ground trying to keep everything open. From the looks of it most airlines had cancelled flights yesterday anyway.
