As I am waiting for my flight from LIH-HNL I was wondering if the 732's were converted from the ex-Aloha 732's they used, or is it even the sane company?

Believe it or not, wiki has a really detailed explanation of the operation, which agrees with my understanding of what happened based on a news report I saw once.

Also, according to the article, the aircraft ARE former Aloha aircraft.

It's a different company but with some links to the old Aloha. All their 732 freighters were originally built as 732C combis. I believe they all previously flew for Aloha before Aloha Air Cargo was created, although none were delivered new to Aloha.

And I believe Aloha's parent company is Saltchuk Resources based in Washington. They also owns Northern Air Cargo which operates a fleet of 737-200 & 737-300 freighters serving Alaska.

From a technical sense they are one in the same. Aloha Air Cargo has the Aloha Air certificate and is simply the leftovers of the previous Aloha Cargo operation including 737 fleet, facilities, etc..

They still use the old Aloha callsign and ICAO code.

Didn't Mesa try to acquire the rights to the name and the logo after Aloha seized operations a couple of years ago?
