Just curious if anyone else in US cities have current fighter patrols. Here in Phoenix, there are some fighters circling high overhead in a big oval. I live in the East Valley and was surprised to hear jet engines. They are too high to ID with binoculars for sure, but look to be F-16s.

I imagine that fighter circuits over large metro areas will become the norm for a very long time.

Today coinencides with the aniversary of the Camp David Accords. This may be why whomever is responsible chose today to unlease their cowardly act of terrorism. This is a grim day and one that will never be forgoten by those who saw the events unfold before our very eyes.

Light the fires at the end of the runway may it guide our lost pilots home to rest.

Fox 10 in Phoenix says that they are Luke AFB based F-16s that are patrolling the Valley.

Hello,

We have at least 2 F-15s flying over the Seattle area. Not sure where they are from. Could be Fairchild AFB near Spokane. This evening a Coast Guard helicopter was flying and one of the F-15s intercepted the Coast Guard chopper. It took a very aggressive offensive posture and after about 5 minutes it left the Coast Guard chopper alone. Probably just double checking on its identity.

Chicago too....I've seen a few F-16's in formation over us here. Earlier today I saw what looked to be a KC 135 or a B-52. It was too high to tell...

The Hawaii Air National Guard escorted all international flights diverted to Honolulu.

I'm sure their orders were to destroy any aircraft that deviated from their assigned approach.

Over Orange County, California within the last 1/2 hour, one or two solo fighters are circuiting at over 20,000 feet with afterburners on. They have come from the east, then turn south and back east again. There are high thin clouds, broken to overcast, depending upon the sky quadrant, which make spotting difficult. It is midnight here, and even though I cannot see them, I can follow the sound with my ears. This has happened at least three times now. I know that sound from attending plenty of air shows. Otherwise the skies in the Los Angeles area are totally empty of aircraft.

There are quite a few pilots who where out in the bush up here because hunting season is going on right now. they wouldn't have any idea what has happened. So they are taking out of all sorts of bush strips like nothing is going on.

I have had to listen to F-15's from Elemendorf buzzing my house the whole day going out to intercept them.

Right now, 3:45am local time, there are fighter jets over south Orange County California. Most likely it is F-18s from Miramar.

We had a few F15's circling Minneapolis airspace last night. All aircraft parked at MSP were gone through with bomb dogs during the evening/night.

There are a few Korean airliners parked at MSP. Unfortunately do to work, I will not be able to get out there today.

I saw an F-15 buzz over me today on my way to work here in Boston.

They are from Otis Air Force Base down on Cape Cod. I was watching on tv last night that two jets flew to NYC to help out with the patrols down there.

Here in Cleveland and along the Lake Erie shore there are fighter patrols. This is because of the Canadian border halfway across the lake.

Fresno (FAT) is home to the Air National Guard's 144th fighter wing. While I haven't noticed any fighters circling the city, the number of takeoffs has increased starting last night and continuing today. I have heard rumors that the unit is on patrol in other areas.

Last eveining, we had 2 pairs of F-16 over Stamford, CT (suburb of NY, 33 miles north east). They flew rather low. I could see th pylons on the wing tip.

Also, we are on the path of flights from JFK and EWR to Europe. So every night there were busy traffic of heavy jets. But last night it was quiet, too quiet for comfort.

I have spotted a few fighter patrols, I am out on Long Island about 30 miles from Manhattan. I was woken up yesterday morning at 11 by what I know now to be an afturburner of an F-16.

God Bless everyone involved

There have been F-16’s flying patrols since yesterday morning here in Denver CO. They have been taking off fairly regularly from Buckley Air Force Base near my house.

The fact that DIA is closed kept me away from work yesterday and today so I have stayed home to watch the TV.

I can’t believe the things I have seen on the news programs. I’m still in shock.

Had a couple of F-15s fly over my office a couple of times this morning here in Portland. Pretty creepy, but also reassuring.

25 Scutfarcus : Something flew over my neighborhood in San Francisco at 3:45 this morning...loud enough to wake me up!
26 Jtb106 : Can't hear them in PHX anymore. Are they still around?
27 SA-JET : US cities with fighters patroling the skies-this is truly unprecedented. I might be a long way off, but I share this with you. To think...fighters.
