I can see how she could have mistaken the Delta employee lot for one of the park and ride lots that are along Camp Creek Parkway, but I don't see how the security people let her into the parking lot. From my days working for AirTran and ASA, in order to access the employee lot, you had to have a parking placard and your ID badge. I'm guessing that she got to the lot around a time in which a large number of day shift employees are coming in and perhaps the security folks just waved folks in without checking for parking placards and ID badges. I remember when I worked out there, the drivers would not let you on without your badge and even with a busload of people getting on, they made sure to check. I also am skeptical of the passengers' claim that nobody on the bus was wearing Delta uniforms. In the dark she probably didn't see any uniforms or with the weather, perhaps they were wearing coats that maybe obscured their uniforms.
There will definitely be some staff at the parking lot either out of a job or sent for some retraining.

Quoting OB1504 (Reply 2): The ramper will be lucky if all that happens is that he gets his badge pulled:
"...the ramp agent she followed into the concourse said he assumed she was an employee because of all the checkpoints she had to pass"
First thing they teach you in SIDA training is never to assume.
Precisely, as they do conduct random checks to see if employees will question them if they don't see a badge and they should have assumed that perhaps this was the case. I've sat through the ATL SIDA video several times (At the last company I worked for at ATL, we had to get our badge renewed annually and had to watch the video again.) and they really do drum it into you to challenge anyone you come across that isn't displaying a badge. Sure people get complacent out there or they don't give someone a second look.
I recall a few elevators at ATL that were used by not only passengers but also by those with access to the ramp and a few times as we're trying to get to the concourse level, the elevator stops and there are passengers on the elevator and some tried to get off at the ramp level. I'm sure a few folks over the years probably did get off of the elevator (say an employee swiped their badge and pressed the button but walked away from the elevator for some reason) and got out there where they weren't supposed to be.

Didn't something trigger an "aha" moment when she didn't have to retrieve a ticket to park in the lot like everyone who has to when parking at an off-airport car park? Sounds fishy to me. I just wonder if she knew what she was doing and played stupid when she got caught

Having worked at ATL I too can not see how you can get thru all of the layers of security. Guards check your ID at the gate and then the bus drivers are supposed to check your ID when you get on the bus. But the pax should have wondered why she didnt get a ticket when she pulled into the lot. I am surprised that this even made the news and it was not covered uup by the airport.

It amazes me the security lapses at airports today.
At Mia to get access to the employee lot you have to have a sticker
on your car and id present. Even if employees are out of uniform
they still wear there id's. When she got on the ramp that agent that escorted her
shouldve challenged her for her id. Hopefully nobody gets fired that.

The buses all say " Worlds greatest employees onboard" Lady prob lacks literacy since she failed to notice the signs that say employee parking as well.
That's hardly definitive...just because it says that, doesn't mean it can't be a public bus with employees on. Or a bus put in a different area. Dont be narrow minded

Not to mention that the shuttle buses for the off-airport parking lots have the name of the lot on the buses. The Delta employee buses have Delta on the sides of them.
Quoting MaranoERAU (Reply 9): Perhaps it was not a Delta lot. It was probably a lot for vendor employees.
Nope, as the only employee parking lot in the same area as the off-airport parking lots is for Delta. Those employees that work for other airlines park in lots at the former NW hangar on Loop Road on the southside of the airport or in the employee lot off of Clark Howell Highway.
