All,
We know the search facility is pants here, so.....
It looks like there are just 6 MU A-300s left flying; all B-:
2317/2318/2319/2324/2325/2326
& it looks like their days could be numbered.
Does anyone have any references as to when these burdz will eventually leave service?
I named myself after the last craft I boarded before joining A-net; B-2319.
And, on my return home, I took close sister, B-2318, where there was a strong smell of Jet-A in the cabin, just before we took off from SZX to SHA.....how common is that these days?
I've been in no hurry to take any modern plane e.g. 380 or 787; the former, once, by accident DXB to PVG. They'll be around for decades.
However, as the average costs of SHA to SZX, then overland to Hong Kong, have been 40% of SHA to HKG, and 60% PVG to HKG, and I live to the east of Shanghai, I've deliberately taken the cross-border route and enjoyed my time on the first widebody twin with MU.
Personal note: My father, ex serviceman (due to his age) initially hated flying, probably due to his National Service days. The introduction of 'The Airbus' between EDI and ORY (I guess CDG not open?) in the mid 1970s somewhat cured him of this 'disease'. So, the A-300 has a bit of a history with my family......NO need to move this to 'Polls & Prefs', though!
Long live the A-300; and I know Thai could be a good bet for me in the region in the coming years.....

There still does not seem to be any retirement date set in their schedule data. Flights currently planned for these routes:
Shanghai Hongqiao to Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shenzhen
Shanghai Pudong to Sanya, Singapore Changi, Xi'An Xianyang
Xi'An Xianyang to Sanya
Swiss aviation news junkie living all over the place

I believe I flew on an MU A300, B-2319 SHA-SZX back in June 2012 when I went on my honeymoon to Hong Kong and Macau...I don't have my boarding passes, but 2319 rings a bell...I know it was an A300-600R. I have never seen a lavatory that large on an aircraft before! Granted, it smelled like a urinal, but it was roomy!
I also flew on an MU A300-600R SZX-SHA on the way back, but I don't remember the reg no. My wife was not pleased about flying to SZX rather than HKG, but I was adamant that I get on the A300 as part of my plan to round out my Airbus repertoire (which I completed in July 2012 with an SQ A380 SIN-FRA-JFK).
Shenzhen Air Catering catered our MU flight SZX-SHA, and was one of the best Y meals I have ever had! Much better than CZ catering!
Unfortunately, I do realize the A300's days as a pax aircraft are numbered, but I am pleased to have had the opportunity to fly on one. Although I have a USA flag next to my name, I love Airbus!

Quoting Thomas_Jaeger (Reply 1): There still does not seem to be any retirement date set in their schedule data.
Thanks for this; reassuring. Someone on the Korean thread mentioned that both KE and MU would retire the A-300s around year-end 2012, and of course, in the case of MU, this hasn't happened yet.
Looks like I haven't taken my last trip on an A-300 yet, as I still regularly visit Hong Kong and the Shenzhen route is my preferred one, unless I am in a particular hurry.....

Because MU actually owns these AB6 instead of leasing them, considering the age of these AB6, the capital cost for the fleet is ....Zero! If I am the manager of MU, I will use them until the spare parts run out, just like Delta.
