This is probably a leaked preview of some three hours of airborne footage shot this week with two Air Malta A320's flying low over the Maltese Islands sporting the recently introduced new livery which is now worn by all but one of the 10 Airbus 320/319 mix flown by Air Malta.

Lovely livery, one thing I just can't understand about Air Malta is why they don't use their excellent location to become a "Icelandair of the south" by connecting Europe and Africa. If you draw a 3000 - 3200nm range from Malta they could reach all of Europe and well into Africa http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?R=3000nm%40mla&MS=wls&DU=nm

This is actually being actively considered as I write.

I love this video. At the risk of sounding bias, I believe that Air Malta does have the best livery out.

Great news! I believe that Malta could possibly be the Singapore of Europe. I don't mean it in passenger volumes or size but at least in taking passengers from the Middle East and the Gulf and taking them to the Americas!

The risk with building a Africa - Europe connecting hub would be the fact that there (I think) is very little O&D demand between Africa and Malta. This will mean that the routes will have to completely rely on connecting traffic which is of lower yield and victim of other, more powerful competitors' (read : EK/ET/QR ) pricing decisions. I feel that Air Malta has better opportunity in being a regional operator connecting Western Europe and may be the Levant with its geographical region. Anyway, Air Malta management has proven their capability well and I'm sure they will go for the more sensible decision.

The heli used came from Butterfly Helicopters of Italy and I beleive the unit used was I-CASM with an Italian crew and the famous Maltese photographer, Kurt Arrigo, on board.

Very nice--I wish they had included more of the natural features of Malta instead of just Valletta--the Azure Window, for instance.
