I've read that both UA and NH plan to have the planes ready for revenue service to resume at the beginning of June 2013. I also expect that Boeing may be working on improved battery designs that can be "dropped in" to replace the current battery a few years from now.

I heard and saw that UA has loaded the scheds for IAH-DEN run beginning May 31. Start of DEN-NRT Jun 10.

Also, today China gave (or soon to give) the green light for CS ops tarting in June, which means they will get the a/c delivered in May.

According to you, actually, you said 809 did two round trips? Wouldn't that be a total of four test flights?

From my insider: 801, 802, and one other have the battery installed already, and 804 (the TAK aircraft) is in the process of completion. The one stranded in Okayama, and the one stranded in Kyushu (i forgot which airport) according to the news was getting the installation too so it can be ferried back to HND.

Interestingly, 809 was sitting powered up outside the MX facility last week just before the fix was approved (I have video of it with engines spinning):

807A was in the MX facility at that time being worked on - wonder what they were doing if not prepping the electrical bay. Seems strange that they'd send it back out knowing it'd be coming right back in.

Apart from reason a). Boeing fixed it first. b). Their gov was the first to lift (after US) 787 ban, any reason why Ethiopian is wayy ahead of schedule than other operators by that they already did a rev flight with their 787?
When others are shooting for end of May/early June??

I'm genuinely curious.

Was experimenting 2 days ago with LAN MAD-FRA in mid-July.

Today it's 767-300.

This was on Expedia. Is there any more info elsewhere as to what is happening?

Hmm with my Expedia page still open its now looking like 767, MAD to FRA from July 1 (when they retake the sector from Iberia operated a/c) till well after Aug 8.
Hopefully this will change back to 787.......

Hi,

What is the situation with LOTs SP-LRC? Is it awaiting an imminent delivery due to being the test bed and subsequently 'fixed'?

SP-LRC is ready for delivery but that doesn't mean LOT is ready for it. Based on LOT's current flight schedule, they won't need it until WAW-YYZ goes daily on June 28. So delivery should be sometime between now and then. I presume it will be closer to now than then as LOT will like to have an extra frame in hand when it launches ORD/YYZ on June 5th.

Thank you for that! Do you also have any updates on SP-LRD/LRE as they are also 'ready' for delivery subject to the fix?

The answer may be as simple as Ethiopia was the first 3rd airline after ANA and JA to operate the 787 so they were probably third in line to get the fix. While the Japanese airlines are being extra cautious for various reason, Ethiopia followed the AD to the letter and chose to operate as soon as they were allowed.

That, plus ET from the get go has grounded its fleet very reluctantly (from the public comments they have issued). So they were clamoring to be allowed to fly again.

I also think that they offered Boeing a very safe environment from where to unleash its propaganda blitz. You could get excused if at times, you confused ET's statements as being pure Boeing PR. I hope they get something for the unwavering loyalty.
