Bombardier Aerospace took the wraps off the Challenger 350–an upgraded Challenger 300 with a new wing, more powerful engines, larger windows and redesigned interior–yesterday on the EBACE show floor. NetJets was also announced as the launch customer for the new $25.8 million twinjet, which is $1 million more than its fraternal twin, which Bombardier will continue to offer. First deliveries of the new Challenger are scheduled to begin in May 2014.

“The Challenger 350 will take our existing Challenger family to new heights,” said Bombardier Business Aircraft president Steve Ridolfi. “This aircraft further enhances our leading business aircraft portfolio and will provide our customers with redefined design standards. Passengers will experience new comfort levels as they relax in the completely new cabin, enjoy a purpose-built and intuitive cabin management system and increase their efficiency.”

According to Ridolfi, the changes in the Challenger 350 reflect feedback from existing Challenger customers, as well as from NetJets. “Based on our owners’ and operators’ needs,” he said, “we have taken the world’s best-selling super-midsize jet and further increased its capability to better meet the growing requirements of our Challenger customer base worldwide.”

I'm skeptical about the new wing, it can't be that different or it would both cost more and lead to better numbers, 135nm more in range doesn't justify a new wing. The original Challenger 300 is not that old so the wing should be fine anyway. Bigger windows are always nice, though.

I'm there with you

New wings and more powerfull engines but only an extra 150NM range (3200NM) ??? I wonder if it has to do more with performance than extra range??

Netjets and other business jet operators do operate into evey mountain-airport on earth, you've got very steep clim gradients that you must meet on take-off & Go arounds... Plus I'm sure the extra power allows them to take heavier loads out of high-altitude mountain airports like Aspen, Jackson Hole, Samedan, Bern, Innsbruck, etc

still I was expecting a bit more range out of the new CL350

very nice airplane, nevertheless

Will the 350 be offered in conjunction with the 300 or is it replacing it ? Will Netjets still take delivery of 300s or has the order be completely converted to the 350?

My definition of cool ? Not trying so hard to be cool.

No, no CL300s for Netjets

If I'm not mistaken, the order is for 75 firm orders, plus 125 options. ALL Challenger 350s

The order also includes firm orders for 25 Challenger 605s and 50 Globals (5000/6000/7000/8000)

Netjets is giving Bombardier a shot of adrenaline
