Just breaking now, and confirmed, US Airways will cut 11,000 jobs, or around 25% of it's work force.

Sad news. It would be a miracle if US actually pulled through this. I bet they file chapter 11 within days.

So, anyone got any ideas about UAL, AA, NWAC, DAL? Something has to give if they are going to reduce capacity by 20% each.
I believe the US will soon see over 100,000 airline workers without a job. That's not good news.

I am just surprised that UAL, DL and AA haven't announced a grounding of their 3-holers. I would think the first response would be to ground the gas-guzzlers. Maybe that is yet to come.....

Has US Airways already mentioned the routes they will cut off. All of thisIS happening to the airlines because of some stupid bastards. Sorry for that but it enrages me that so much harm is being done because some person had this stupid idea of punishing the US.

too bad about USAirways...All of the majors are headed for the same thing...I know NWA has cut 20% of routes..and they are laying off 8000-11000 jobs effective Oct.1st...the decrease is in PARS in the NWA computer system already...It will be very surprising if USAirways and a few others file for chapter 11...very very sad. thanks alot BIN!!!
