I just saw an article in a newspaper (Minnesota Star Tribune) saying that all of the major airlines face chapter 11...NWA CEO Anderson says that they can survive 50 days before they run out of cash in the current environment...not a good future here if they don't get help from the government soon....

rite... Sad to hear that.
But is Delta able to survive? Southwest? jetBLUE? US Airways? I reckon AA and UA are worst? But still, they will face massive cash-flow problems. I believe that jetBLUE with the help of George Soros will survive and other not too big airlines will survive because their overhead is not a huge amount of $$$ but of course, given that they have some $$$ and their past traffic was pretty good.

Let the government help the airlines. The government contributed to their current downfalling. The government shut down airspace letting the airlines lose money. Now the government should aid the airlines.

Rumor has it UA was going to lose 1.5 billion by years end anyway and that they were going to file for chapter 11...NWA was the only major carrier that was predicted to make money this quarter before this happened...also rumor has it that CO and USAirways will be filing by the end of the month---having DCA closed is killing USAirways...The government should take over and run the airlines like they did years ago...and they should run them and they can take the hit...we will see real soon..
