Hi to you all,

sorry if discussed before, but I couldn't find any results via the search engine.

I heard rumors, that from the end of 2013 Venezuela will ban all local registered B727/B732 & DC9 to improve safety.

Is it true? Any more information?

Isn't the DC9 like the corner-stone of Venezualan aviation?

Every Venezualan pilot I meet flies or flew the DC9

Even though DC-9s are indeed being slowly retired, they will not be banned from flying in the country. Same applies for all 732s, which pretty much are the main component of airlines like Avior, Rutaca and Estelar.

This was a rumor that was later cleared. We will still be the dark sheep in South American aviation with obsolete airplanes occupying our airspace - don't worry...

let's add Venezolana to the list with 8 732, the oldest one LN 512 from 1978   . Note the rumors that Venezolana is partially owned by one of the strongest goverment leaders (Diosdado) ...

Avior Airlines flies some 732 from Valencia they are to Miami daily, they are the only 732 scheduled into Miami now.

From what I understand a NOTAM was issued saying that they can no longer fly these types from November 1, 2013. Whether it will be the same as other deadlines in the airline industry that will be extended and extended again is another question. Certainly Venezuelan carriers seem to be working hard to get "new" airplanes in to replace them right now.

Well, even though I like seeing those DC-9's and 732's I do look forward to the day that Venezuelan airlines go for much newer generation aircraft. It seems Conviasa is on the right track there with their ERJ190's. I hope to see them here in CUR soon.

the A340 Right Now is parked in the Conviasa´s Hangars the MAD and EZE flight are flying in Air Italy 767 and Orbest A330-200.

About the ATR-42 I see very complicated to be back in service, right now is 1 ATR-72 in service with chhances of the other 2 get back in service

The international route on 9V [BLA-PTY] 4x weekly is currently utilizing the obsolete 732.
If the Government of Venezuela would ban their international segments involving the mentioned planes, this route will be obviously affected at all.
