OK, the topic makes it sound like it's BA's first revenue flight, not Thompson.Suggest title change.

Err...no. Perhaps people should realise BA's full name is British Airways and not British.

Yeah in the US British Airways or BA is often called British Air. I hate that actually (no offence). It seems to be the case often with many airlines. If often heard Turkish Air, Japan Air and Virgin Air.

Good luck to Thomson, they are gonna need it on the MRU and HKT runs I think, that will be a challenge.

Title change duly done, but my point was it is the first UK registered 787 revenue flight which is somewhat a milestone without Richard Branson, MOL or Willie Walsh being plastered across the news channels or other media

Slightly unfair David.

Many airlines are referred to by just the name part which identifies nationality; American, Turkish, Thai, Singapore...need I go on?

It's a bit arrogant to criticise our international friends for doing the same for our national carrier when, in much the same way, we do the same with theirs.

There are two Gatwick - Mahon rotations on the 21st. One still comes up on the website for me so I'm assuming the other is full.

Looking at their MAH-LGW saleable sectors on their website for the 21st, there are 3 flights. Any idea which is the 787?

Thanks

What's up with airlines not mentioning the aircraft type? I find it very annoying!

On the First Choice website the 0805 departure is indicated as being flown by Thomson (and there are 4 seats left)

There are other flights at 1350 and 1525.

Last week

Dep 0805 TOM2VD opb G-OOBP, B752
Dep 1340 TOM4566 opb G-TAWN, B738
Dep 1525 TOM4554 opb G-OOBP, B752

I'd imagine that the 787 would replace the 752 rather than the 738 so either the 1st or 3rd that day. Or it may do both, perhaps.

This is strange. Others on here are saying you can book via First Choice, but I tried but can't. They tell me it's staff only.

Just found out courtesy of the Gatwick Group that these are the flights on the 21st.

TOM4536 0905 dep to MAH arr as TOM4537
TOM4554 1525 dep to MAH arr as TOM4555

Why they fobbed me off with that 'staff only' guff I don't know. Appears you need to book a 7 holiday etc before the flight on the 21st comes up as an option.

For what it's worth I am flying the TOM 787 on Tuesday 25th June LGW - HER, from what I understand this will be the first 787 in to HER, looking forward to it!

Enjoyed 3 flights on QR's 787, the last one the day before they got grounded, so hoping there will be no tech issues or an aircraft switch!

When you go to the Thomson 'Select Your Seat' website it was interesting to note that the premium cabin was not coming up for sale.

25 APYu : I think its going to HER on Sunday too from Gatwick.
26 ManchesterMAN : You can book on the Thomson website. It sometimes helps if you do your search on Kayak and click through from there. Unfortunately I can't make this
27 LuftyMatt : I'm surprised it's not out of MAN, as that's where they've been basing all their training flight from.
28 dazbo5 : 21st June: Gatwick - Mahon (Menorca): TOM4536/7 Gatwick - Mahon (Menorca): TOM4554/5 22nd June: Gatwick - Palma (Majorca): TOM4600/1 Gatwick - Rhodes
29 musapapaya : so what did I see on Sunday the 16th June? I landed in MAN on LH940 from FRA and a 787 from TOM just took off behind we landed!
30 lehovec : Well if you don't mind going for one day trip and not fussed on not being on THE first pax flight, you can fly LGW-MAH with Thomas Cook on 767 in the
31 APYu : A Training Flight to either Doncaster, Prestwick, Shannon, Newquay, Cardiff, Ostend or a PR flight to Hanover probably.
32 airevents : Could anyone with access please check if the flight to Palma this saturday is still a 787? I am about to book it and it would be too disappointing to
33 U2380 : She took a brief trip down to EGHH/BOH today apparently. She's certainly visited a good few airports across the UK already.[Edited 2013-06-18 06:47:17
34 hotplane : TOM4600 departing LGW at 0825 is a 787. Is that your one?
35 Post contains links and images visualapproach : A very enjoyable first flight, a definite improvement at least on the Thomas Cook aircraft I flew over to Mahon with. It might not exactly be a whole
36 Post contains links 817Dreamliiner : Here's a trip report done yesterday: Thomson 1st 787 DreamLiner: MAH-LGW First Flight (by airbuseric Jun 21 2013 in Trip Reports)
37 ManchesterMAN : Thanks for this Darren. Any idea of the flying schedule for the coming week? I'm determined to get on one before they start long haul ops but can't f
38 hkcanadaexpat : looks like G-TUIB is flying the first MAN commercial flight this morning to PMI (TOM 2138/2139). G-TUIA is doing the LGW-DLM morning turn (TOM 318/319
39 APYu : Good to see that two of their 3 are now earning their keep. Well done TUI
