I noticed that Saturday's FAT-HNL was about seven hours late. Todays FAT-HNL, scheduled at 10a, is still on the ground at just before 2p. Sounds as if the domino effect is in full motion again. Seems as if G4 just cannot get their act together on Hawaii. What's the story from other markets?
I know that the Friday HNL-FAT came in on-time, so Saturday's departure must have been a mechanical in Fresno. Don't know the story behind today's delay.

My really good friend is a FA for them based in SFB. He says the MD-80s are always broke. Instead of changing a light bulb in the PSU for the no smoking sign, something that is a no go item if it burns out, they took the bulbs out and replaced them with stickers. Good idea on them. But still. I do know that they are flying some really old 80's but they're paid for, and they make money so even with the mx issues its still making business sense. He's never been on the 757 except in training, and the A319 is due in his base in October, but he says Las Vegas keeps changing they're arrival date of the Bus.

The thing you must remember about G4 is the price the pax pay for a bundled vacation. No one else flies from these places to major vacation destinations on mainline aircraft and you certainly couldn't piece meal a vacation together on your on for the same price. Bottom line is people will gripe, but will be back next time they want to go to vacation land.

I cant even believe with all the breakdowns and delays that anyone would want to fly with this airline. I guess if time means nothing to you, then fly with Allegiant. With all the add on fees I don't belive that a major difference exists between Allegiant and a LCC or Major carrier.

Sure you could...Allegiant certainly isn't the only master at this. Plenty of people travel the US everyday on customized vacations, and if you know where to look...
We should make a thread called the "Allegiant Challenge"...post some itinerary that Allegiant markets and see who can beat it for the same dates.

I've not seen anything from G4 to Hawaii that made me want to rush out and book it other than those $99 OW fares back in February. With a little work, you could book G4 flights and the hotels separately and beat their own packages. Last summer, AA was pretty much matching (and at times beating) the G4 packages at the Hilton Hawaiian Village from FAT, although you had to route through LAX.
You want a deal? Book August 10th FAT - HNL for $118. There's no return as the last HNL-FAT is August 9. But, you're there cheap. Now, get creative.

I'm under the impression they troubleshoot the "'apparent" problem but also are required to check the next higher assembly
I'm guessing G4 keeps limited spare parts/inventory at their less than daily outstations. The XXX-HNL stations may carry additional inventory. If a mad-dog breaks and the part is not available locally and it cannot be parts pooled; (it is a MD-80) the part would have to come from LAS in G4 case I suppose. With less than daily frequencies it could be a logistics quagmire.
