A Letter from the CEO
Dear Valued Customers:
As a result of the terrorist attacks last week, the U.S. airline industry faces its toughest challenge ever. A complete shutdown of our nation's airspace, followed by the re-initiation of service under heightened security measures and the prospect of sharply reduced demand for air travel, has every airline concerned about its future stability.
Effective today, Monday, Sept. 17, we are reducing our flight schedule by approximately 20 percent based on available seat miles. This action is particularly disheartening in light of the fact that our employees have worked tirelessly over the past few days to restore our airline to normal operating levels.
We have posted a list of the flights that have been eliminated on our web site. If your flight was affected, please contact our reservations department at 800-235-9292 for reaccomodation assistance.
Additionally, we've strongly encouraged the administration and congressional leadership to work cooperatively with all airlines to provide the financial relief necessary to stabilize our company and our industry.
In the meantime, our goal is to continue to provide you with courteous service and safe air transportation. Thank you for choosing America West.
W. Douglas Parker
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer
