AA will cut 9% of MIA's schedule, some suspensions only temporary, while cutting only one destination, San Jose, and another 15 flights, including flights to Washington National, Atlanta, O'Hare, and LaGuardia, as well as Bogota, Rio de Janiero, Sao Paulo, and San Jose (Costa Rica). Major destinations not effected at MIA are LAX, SFO, JFK, EWR, and BOS. The ending of some flights is considered to be only a suspension. At the same time, AA will go ahead with plans for two extra daily Detroit flights and one extra daily Raleigh flight, as well as weekend service to Vail, Colorado. FLL's schedule, which includes new second-daily to LAX and new flights to Caracas, will be uneffected.

By the way MAH4546 remember about the airline you told me that wanted to start service between BQN and MIA. It was Borinquen Internatonal Air but it was scheduled for Aug 1st and nothing even has been mentioned overthere in Puerto Rico so I dont know whats going to happen with this airline.

Bailing out of San Jose has to be a big boost for Southwest since they just boosted their operation there so much.

AA is not "bailing out" of SJC. They are just discontinuing service from SJC to MIA, a route that Southwest doesn't serve.

And besides, WN doesn't even serve (or I bet is even planning to) serve the SJC-Florida market nonstop.

It was an NW DC-10, not a 747.

Sorry, I misunderstood the post. I thought SJO had been cut altogether.

Sorry my NW post wound up in this thread, it wasn't meant to happen that way  Sad

Good to here DTW will keep the two additional flights, sadly though, I'm waiting word on my pink-slip, and won't be there to board those flights.  Sad

I wanted to mention that we will be seeing cities close up totally, which ones? Haven't heard, but I'm sure it will come up on these boards.

As of April 2002, and beyond, I think, aa.com will let me book non-stops between SJC and both MIA and CDG. I'd like to see a respectable source before I doubt aa's own website.

777Boy, AA is calling some of the MIA cuts "suspensions" until April. SJC might just be back in April, but you can't book MIA-SJC in November. It was in the Miami Hearld business section.
