As we respect and grieve for the victims of Saturday's SFO incident, I'm interested to hear where the various diversions went.
I understand a number of international flights went to SEA and OAK. Did any international flights land at SJC? What about PDX and SMF?
Someone also stated that RNO and MRY got some diversions. What about FAT?
Someone stated that a NH 788 was in SJC. That wasn't a diversion. That would have been the NRT-SJC flight. I think the SFO NH flight would have already arrived, but presumably NH would have gone to SJC if the 77W to SFO needed a diversion. They being the only oversea carrier with a staff at SJC.
Does anyone have a list or partial list of what diversions went to each airports?
It was my understanding the two planes that UA had drop in on PDX, both had passengers staying overnight. After clearing customs, people were sent to the counter for UA was packed with people getting hotel vouchers and trying to rebook. The 777 from LHR was supposed to leave the next day with the same passengers that came in on it. I do not know how the 744 from FRA was handled.

Quoting as739x (Reply 8): Yes, we operated them as extra sections on Sunday evening
Thanks for clearing that up for us. I remember seeing the 744 in tulip livery, I didn't see the 777, but I expect once they cleared customs, they likely towed the planes down to E. Did these planes operating these special segments, only accommodate those originally booked on board, or did they take local PDX boarding traffic? As many of the regular UA flights were cancelled. Plus what a treat, showing up at the airport expecting to see a small jet, and instead you get a 777 or 744.
