A friend of mine at Airbus has told me of a Large explosion near the town of Toulouse. She said the Airbus office was shaken by the blast that is thought to be at a Petro Chemical plant that makes rocket fuel. This happened at 10.20am this morning.
They have been told to stay in doors, close the windows and turn of the aircon as the air may be infected.
They have heard of some people killed but this is not confirmed.

Indeed it was a chemical factory; I heard it on the news this afternoon. They also said 3 people died; but that death toll could be worse (They spoke about possibly 10 people killed).

for those who cannot read French, a few more details about the above link.
It looks as an accident, and this plant was well known as being potentially dangerous.
Authorities are talking about 10 to 15 death, and 200 people hurt.
In this case, we are very lucky, as 500 people work there. And on the other side of the road, there is psychiatric hospital. A lot of people leave around. (CIty centre is only 3-4 km away.
Blagnac airport is closed. The main reason is that during the descent, aircraft fly very close to the plant, and authoriies do not want to take a chance, with the fumes (even if they say it is non toxic)
The explosion was so strong that a lot of windows have been blown by the blast, creating some panic in the city centre.(the first reaction was to think it was the same scenario as last week in New York)
