So some skiing resort flights it looks like, amd utilization of aircraft for a period when business routes slack off. Hopefully it'll be a good use of assets.

Does Limited daily=less than daily?

I appears to mean daily service that is limited to only 2 weeks.

I believe the "limited daily" means that the daily service is only scheduled (Dec. 21 – Jan. 5)

and retiming TPA/RDU to daylights probably while aircraft utilization is low in the fall

I'd hardly even bother to mention MSO or FCA/GPI if it is only for 14 days.

The daily number of local LAX-SAN traffic passengers among all airlines can't even fill one CRJ-200.

Says something about how many pax from SAN still use LAX as their connecting point! (Despite pretty healthy service levels to all cx domestic hubs out of Lindbergh -- including DL -- plus our own daily nonstops to LHR and NRT now.)

Nice additions. Are they just using existing planes for this?

Man I'd love it if they'd add even just one daily flight to SBA!

I think JAC is a good add. They can still offer daily service and multiple time options thru SLC. Looks like a CRJ-700

RDU/CMH/IND all got re-timed due to AA adding them.

TPA is just to get more in-line with the bulk of the transcons now being morning flying vs red-eyes. IIRC the only non-hub red eyes left are MIA and one of the two MCO flights. (and i expect MIA to move to TPA/MCO type times. I don't think it can do any worse.)

yes

MRY/FAT/SBA would all be nice, but if Delta is only going to use 70+ seat aircraft in LAX its not going to happen anytime soon.

Would also like to see more frequency to SAN, via CR2s if need be.

IIRC all the "limited" daily adds are CR7s.

yep.

One additional daily flight to Kansas City, Mo.* (Sept. 3)

As discussed before this route is going from 1x A319 to 2x E75. There will now be a morning and evening option.
Plus, MCI-LAX will bridge in the E75s to LAX as SFO-LAX becomes all E75 in September.

Bummer. In that case, I'd love it if DL would talk AS into adding just one daily flight to SBA (via Horizon or something).

I realize it's a really small airport, but with all those flights out of LAX, seems like there's an opportunity for at least some connecting traffic.

Designed to be buzzworthy. It's a way to get publicity by offering "daily" service to all these nice ski resorts. Without losing millions on it. Moderately innovative IMO. At LAX, they have to be thinking outside the box.

DL is not going after the O&D passenger in market. They are going after the connecting passenger. Is this not obvious in this case?

When DL started LAX-SAN, in early 2010, it was 6x daily -- all on CR-2s -- and now they are at 5x - all CR7s and 9s. So I'm pretty sure the total number of seats has increased over the 3 years. I expect DL has scheduled the flights pretty carefully to make the most important connections with minimal wait times in LA.

I would not mind seeing more frequency/capacity on the route however. Perhaps gate space at LAX is becoming a factor so maybe the larger planes with less frequency is the key for them, at least on some routes.

 Wow!

Crazy scheduling.

DL seems to like to do bizarre things at LAX, with fancy big press releases.

It's not that crazy to run seasonal, once-weekly ski shuttles. ATL sees a ton of once-weekly service to beach destinations, and I believe CUN has over a dozen once-weekly destinations on DL.

As far as press releases go, it's probably the cheapest way to get the word out?

Lots of connecting traffic on this route, especially to Asia and the East Coast.

The flights to Montana and Wyoming are pretty great! Western Montana, northern Idaho, and northwestern Wyoming are my favorite parts of the country. I'd much prefer to go in the spring or fall instead of winter though.

Anybody know what the new schedule for the RDU route is? My Delta Schedule Program only lists a 7 minute change for September.
