Is Delta Flying Turboprops Again?

Hi Everyone, please correct me if I am wrong.  

I remember a few year back Delta proudly announced the withdrawal of turboprops fleet from Delta Connection.
Several airports lost Delta service (e.g. HHH) because the CRJs were too big for those markets.

I was just checking out the 717 and 739 seat maps on Delta.com and saw that Delta has also listed the Embraer E120 seat map.

When did Delta bring back turboprops service or is Delta going to offer turboprops again? will the Saab340 be back?

Some routes ex-OO on the E120 are still served ex-SLC with a DL flight number. I think there was a TR about one such flight just a few days ago.

It's on there website... Probably out of SLC, that would be my guess. I couldn't guess a route though.

I thought so too. I don't recall Delta lists the E120 in the Sky Magazine.

Thanks guys! I am guessing there is no E120 in Delta livery and OO is flying the E120 for Delta in their own livery?

I did a quick search and only SkyWest own livery and UAX livery show up.

That's probably because the same plane can change affiliation as it moves between hubs and outstations. An example is one of today's SLC-RKS flights operated for Delta continues on under another flight number RKS-DEN for United.

Yes, all E-120s are operated at-risk by Skywest and in the Skywest livery. The OO EMB-120 agreement isn't a conventional DL Connection agreement, basically Delta just sells the tickets for Skywest; Skywest takes all the financial risk and deals with scheduling, gate leasing, etc.

The Saab was the last turboprop to be operated in Delta colors. The ATR was retired in December 2008. The Saab was retired in December 2011.

I don't recall the EMB-120 ever flying in Delta Connection livery. Back when the Brasilia was common and they were flown by ASA and Comair for Delta in addition to SkyWest, they all flew in the operator's own livery. I don't think Delta introduced a common Delta Connection livery until the arrival of the CRJ, though some liveries including SkyWest's blue/red combination seem similar to the Delta livery at the time. The SkyWest house livery flown on the Brasilia today is quite similar to the livery they used in the past.

Delta aka skywest has always been flying props out of SLC. I dont think they fly from any other hub. Some routes are extremely profitable and skywest has wanted to retire them for years but its hard when they come print money. Some airports like SUN cannot handle crjs even. Both delta and skywest do really well on these routes. SUN is the real money maker and st george they use to need the props but they just built a new airport. No one knows how long skywest will keep it going.

The FAA did recently clear SkyWest to fly CRJ-700s into SUN. Yes, waivers make things more difficult, but it wasn't a dealbreaker for 737s in the past, and it's not one for regional jets today.

The runway length itself (7550ft) isn't the issue so much as obstructions and taxiway/ramp clearance alongside the runway. I'll concede that these problems do result in a shorter usable runway, but it's plenty to get aircraft larger than the EMB-120 in there (as Horizon is currently doing with the Q400), which the original claim suggested wasn't possible.

Do they need to address these issues long-term? Certainly, but it's not stopping SkyWest from flying CRJs there now if they wanted to.

Silver has an interline agreement with DL out of ATL, but does not codeshare with them and operates as Silver.
