Food tends to be a choice of Western & Local Malaysian menus - but heavily dependant on local departure airports - just like most airlines.

Service tends to be genuine. Seat Pitch in MAS' Economy is one of the best in the world. Most 747 and 777 aircraft are now kitted out with personal TVs at every seat.

Fantastic home hub at KUL - see posting re-top 10 Airports.

Yeah what Mas777 basically said. I have been on their 734s, 744s, and 772s and I used a 772 to get from KUL to EWR about a year ago and service was fabulous. All the 772s have 10inch personal TVs and I have also gone on one of their new 744's which are equipped with personal TV's on each on seat. All of the seats on the 772's are comfortable and quite acceptable in width.

Most of the food served are either Western or Local Malaysian cuisine. The KLIA Int'l airport is great and if you go for First Class, you get to go to the Lounge while waiting to board you plane. There they serve good food, a bird's eye view of the airport and both runways, and access to the internet if you need it but if you don't, there are a lot of shops and restaurants that you could waste your time on(both in the main terminal or terminal A) while waiting to board you flight. Oh yeah, the stewardesses aren't that bad looking either.

Been on Malaysia's B737s and B744s. I would say they are really fantastic compared to other airlines. I would say they offer one of the best services.

For those who care, all food served on board MAS flights are Halal.

I would say that Malaysia Airlines has standards of SQ or CX, or sometimes, even better. The thing is with Malaysia Airlines is that, people tend to think Malaysia is a 3rd world country, which is true, and stereotypically think that they operate old and ageing equipments, which is far from true. I have travelled many times on their 744, 734 and A330 and all the time, the service and comfort level has been excellent. Ive travelled SQ many times too, and also a few times on CX, and to me personally, they are on par. Very new and well kept planes.

I'm afraid Malaysia is no longer a 3rd world country - it is an NIE (newly industrialised economy) alongside South Korea, Thailand and Taiwan.
