Hey folks--

I was wondering what happens if you (an American) apply to Air Canada, Air Ontario does it matter if you're an American??

Also if you go and fly for a regional up there, is it okay to come back here (to the States) and fly for a major??

Thank you,

Neil Harrison

Hi Neil:

Near as I understand, the reciprocal of what you are asking is so virtually prohibited (it is verrrry difficult for a Canadian to get a green card as a professional pilot) by the US INS that it would be similarly difficult for an American to obtain pilot employment in Canada. Like anything, it can be done, but the list of qualifiers is long. So is the waiting list for Canadian pilots trying to gain access to these carriers.

Offshore, there are lots of places you could try, but be prepared for culture shock extraordinaire!

Best Regards,

Thanks Buff!

I thought that since the US and Canada are very close (in more ways than just distance) countries, I would have thought that they allowed employment in both countries.
