I was just watching on the CBS news and they said that do to increased security, you cannot leave your seat for any reason. The airlines met with congress today to show them their plan to install toilets in every seat of current aircraft and have them installed at the factory for the new aircraft. They feel that it will cost somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 billion dollars (US) to do and should be finished in 2 years. In the meantime, nobody is allowed to leave their seats on all flights.
