Bad climb rate, yes, but I bet it was really smooth.

Maybe is bad climb rate, but maybe not. My friend is currently under final training on Boeing 737-300 (Yugoslav Airlines) and sometimes captain - instructor raise gear second after takeoff!!! (moments after radio-altimeter becomes "alive"), so you get the picture like this - aircraft is very low over the runway with almost retracted gear, and it looks like a bad climb rate Smile

That Tu154 looks real smooth.

Have a look at this one. OK but this is a low-pass and not a take off, yet it is a great shot!

Why did that TU-154 have really small exit doors and then really huge ones?

That's emergency overwing exit, and all TU-154 have two "normal" doors and two overwing exits...

I've flown aboard the 154 once to date - routing SOF-LHR aboard LZ. A good, uneventful flight, although the aircraft's cabin was somewhat dated.

How can you tell it's a slow climber when the photo is taken 1 second after rotation, wait for it to be like 100 or 200 ft high so you can judge better.

My brother's office is in the background, right next to terminal 2 so I get to watch take off's all the time from his office. Watching those russian airliners take off is impressive, their climb rate is slow!
