Would you board Finnair flight 666 to HEL (Helsinki) on Friday 13th? I suppose some very superstitious might consider taking another flight.

Of course since I don't pay attention to such mumbo jumbo. It's well known that the devil hides in details.

Hah! I suppose the anyone superstitious traveling from Copenhagen to Helsinki might want to make their plans for Saturday...

For what it's worth, I flew AY666 in 2007 back when it was running CDG-HEL...I experienced my only go-around to date at HEL on that trip! The A321-200 making the trip that day (OH-LZF) was also the third consecutive flight of that particular trip (SEA-LAX-CDG-HEL) to see an upgauge, the first two being an AS 739 instead of a 738 and an AF 77W instead of a 772.

Is Bruce D. the captain of this flight?

....just kidding, I know he's not working for Finnair. Nevertheless, I would have no objection whatsoever to taking any flight with number 666 or 999 in it.

Yes, absolutely, 100%. In fact I would probably even adjust my plans slightly just to fly that flight because it would be a cool line to have in my OpenFlights.

Of course I would fly!

When everybody is in the summer holidays, cinemas sometimes like to re-show old movies, like the original "The Omen". I was the only person in the theatre, and so I choose row 13, seat 13.

I would only take that flight provided I was booked on a return one later on....

Then I could say I've been to HEL and back

I honestly can't believe adults do believe in this stuff. With all our education and science it should be proven now that there is nothing out there right? It's a fantasy world for some.

I must agree though that Helsinki airport code is one of the best out there. let's go Fukuoka - Innsbruck - Helsinki.

If you fly to TRD you are very close to a railway station actually called Hell... The best part is it has a big sign outside it that says "Godsekspedisjon" (cargo handling) and ironically, "hell" in Norwegian means "luck"...

But yes.. I'd so go on that flight! I never understood superstition myself...

Next Flights: LHR-OSL (738), OSL-CPH (320), CPH-LHR (321), LHR-HEL (359), HEL-LHR (359)

or 999

I'm not sure what superstitious reference there is to the number 9, but the given name of Japanese singer, Kyu Sakamoto, famous for his hit 1960s song "Sukuiyaki", is pronounced the same as number 9 in Japanese. He was one of the many passengers tragically killed on JL123 in 1985.

I think it's a play on the UK emergency services number. Dial 9-9-9 in an emergency. Similar to the 9-1-1 in the US and Canada.

Or you can always dial 0118 999 881 999 119 725 . . . 3

There Hell, Michigan, probably named after the one in Norway by immigrants from that country.
There is no doubt AY got a lot of free publicity around the world and especially in the USA from this flight on Friday, on news shows, even Jay Leno joked about it ('it makes a stop at Newark [EWR]).

With all the media outlets filling a few minutes with Flight 666 to HEL, I found it funny that AY666 on 13SEP arrived 13 minutes late.

I'd like to go to HEL via SIN on flight 666, if that were possible.

I'm not superstitious really. Any seat number on any flight number on any day. All good to me.

I don't take such superstitions seriously. If I took this flight and it crashed and I died then I might... but by then it would be too late anyway, so why worry.

I went out of my way to use flight AY 666 last winter. And I really wanted seat 13D, but unfortunately all row 13 seats were taken. Had to sit on the first row instead, they gave me an upgrade. First row seat on the way to HEL! Anyway, it was a really nice flight. As always on AY.

Another nice flight is the flight from SIN to HEL:

I will point out that the boarding pass on the SIN to HEL flight has a beautiful blonde as a background picture. It seems appropriate, somehow.
