I read in a belgian newspaper that Ryanair is getting money from the Belgian/Walloon government for using and thus increasing traffic at Charleroi aiport.

Is this true ? There was mentionned a very high amount of 400 mio BEF.

I don't think they are directly sponsored by the Walloon government, but there is indirect sponsoring, as landing and handling fees at Charleroi are extremely low for Ryanair. I believe they only charge 5000 Bfr. landing + handling fee per Ryanair 737, so they have to be operating at a loss there.
