2013 Q1 China-US Direct Flight Passenger Ststistic

This datasheet contains the seats and passengers number of all China-US direct flights (directional) in Quarter 1 2013, and I calculated the average load factor and the Y-on-Y growth rate based on the data of last year. The material is available on DOT website and I just selected the data related to mainland China. I don't know whether it is for the protection of business interests, the DOT usually delays the release of this data by six month, which means now the latest data is for March 2013.

I marked the ones I thought were interesting with "*"

MU increased HNL frequencies from 2 weekly to 3, and will keep increasing to 5 weekly in Dec.. CA and HA are both going to launch PEK-HNL next year. Looks like Hawaii is becoming a hots pot for the Chinese.

CZ changed the metal to A380 on CAN-LAX. The general LF looks good but there is no indication how they are doing with the first/business cabin.

How is UA'a PEK-IAD doing?

DL increased PEK-DTW to daily by the end of last year, but the load looks bad. And if we compare DL with HU on SEA-PEK we see that HU is doing much better than DL. What do you think is the reason?

they can't compete against the big players since they lack the route structure to make it work. This is why the merger is a must for them.

I think that they would do much better with this PEK (and PVG) route from JFK, where their competitors are enjoying 90+ LFs, and AA could connect its South American flights (and also JJ traffic) which would allow one stop connections to China without changing terminals. JFK sits almost on the grand circle from GRU/GIG to PEK (or PVG). This is especially true with JFK-HND coming to an end (not that its timings were ever conducive to connections).
