Time At Security Post

I was at PHL today and at the UA/CO security check the line extended out of visual sight. The line had to tale over onehour to get to security. Is this the same at other airports? This can not continue. If it takes hours to check in and get to the gate people will not fly. Security, certainly, but something has to be done to faciliate a safe and quick security.
