Given the way that they have behaved, not very surprising really.
I don't think it would happen - if only because DAT could easily be sold off as it currently stands whereas if it merges with SN then it would be impossible to detach.

Just for arguments sake, here's a 'what if':
What if Croassair does end up as Swiss national carrier (see other thread) picking up the heatlthy bits of Swissair?
Would the same strategy work in Belgium: Sabena goes bankrupt but DAT remains to exist and becomes the new national carrier picking up the more interesting Sabena bits?
Main problem I see is that in Swiss they seem to have the money for it (UBS and Crédit Suisse), whilst for Sabena / DAT there is no money as far as we know.
